“We should of bought a bigger boat” The Rockies fall short try to catching the fish!!!

Florida Marlins Vs. Colorado Rockies

Jhoulys Chacin Starting for the Rockies Anibal Sanchez for the Marlins

Since both teams first season in 1993, they played 155 times. The Marlins led by 1 game with the record of 77-78 .

For this game I had to go to Coors straight from work and was a few minutes late to BP unheard of for me except this week. I did get a ball from BP hit by Chris Nelson that was most likely “D’s” if he did not knock into a chair with my backpack on it!!! That was my 25th at Coors this year and 52nd all time MLB BP ball. Still don’t have a major league game ball. Only 2 game balls are from triple AAA games.

After BP I walked around Coors for a while and then went over to the bullpen area. Got a few photos from up there before the game started.

Jhoulys Chacin long tossing with Chris Ianetta in rightfield.

Chacin warming up in the bullpen. This bullpen session did not look very good it seemed to me he was missing his mark and bouncing a lot of pitcher. This usually doesn’t Mean too much sometime a bad bullpen is just a bad bullpen and doesn’t carry to the game.

The Rockies Dugout during the National Anthem.

Here are the bullpen pitchers heading to the bullpen for the start of the game.

Chacin and Iannetta heading to the dugout

Sanchez with catcher John Buck and Marlins pitching coach. Heading to the dug out.

Chacin throwing the first pitch to the Marlins Emilio Bonifacio . Bonifacio would ground out. Looked like a good start til Bryan Petersen hit a triple, Mike Stanton was walked and Greg Dobbs  hit a double. That double scored Petersen. for a quick (1-0) lead for the Marlins.

Petersen scoring the games first run after Greg Dobbs double.

Greg Dobbs slides into second.

Now back to or regularly scheduled blog entrée!

The Marlins would score 2 more times in the 1st. inning. (3-0) Marlins

The Rockies would go  down in order in the 1st. Dexter Fowler and Mark Ellis would both strike out looking for the first two outs. Carlos Gonzalez the hit a ball to first for the third out.

Between the top and the bottom of the 2nd inning.

Juan Nicasio made an appearance in front of the Rockies Dugout with his mom Aurelia Prado.

The Deuce Troy Tulowitzki would than lead off with a HR for the Rockies first run of the game. (3-1) Marlins

The Deuce rounds second after his led off HR

Helton would ground out and then Seth Smith would hit one of his own to left center (3-2) Marlins

The Rockies slowly got back into the game. Chacin seemed to find his groove in the 3rd. With his already escalated pitch count throwing 50 pitches in just the first 2 innings. He managed to only face 4 batters only letting up a lead off single to Dobbs.

Sanchez would sit the Rockies down in order in the 3rd. The last out of the inning was a strike out to Ellis, his second of the game. After 3 innings Sanchez pitched 39 pitches.

In the 4th inning Former Rockie Jose Lopez lead off the inning with  double. He would score on a Bonifacio double (4-2) Marlins. Bonifacio would than score on a Brian Peterson triple     (5-2) Marlins.

Chacin would strike out Stanton and Dobbs to end the inning. The 4th inning would be Chacins last, he was taken out and Escoalona came in to pitch the 5th. Chacin was not quite money tonight and the bad bullpen did carry over to the game. He let up 5 runs, 8 hits, 5 hits for extra bases, Striking out 4 and walking 3, which had scored 1 run.

Sanchez throwing his 43rd pitch of the game to Cargo who would deliver the pitch to right field for a lead off solo HR.

Cargo Rounding second after he hit his lead off HR. The second  solo lead off HR of the night let up by Sanchez. (5-3) Marlins

That was the Rockies only run of the inning the Deuce would hit a double but get left on base.

Escalona also pitched the 6th inning her he is keeping Bonifacio on first.

Then a few pitches later Bonifacio make a break for it.

The Deuce going for the tag, Bonifacio was safe at second.

The Marlins picked up another run in the 7th when Mike Stanton took a page out of the Rockies book and hit a lead off HR. (6-3)

J.C Romero pitched the 8th inning for the Rockies. After a lead off single by John Buck Jose Lopez would hit into a double play.

The Rox would get out of the inning. They would not score in the 8th either.

The Marlins sent 4 batters to the plate in the 9th. Petersen was the only hit in the inning with a single.

The 9th inning would be dramatic once again Todd Helton lead off the inning with a single. Seth Smith would fly out to center and Eliezer Alfonso pinched hit for Jonny Herrera who came into the game in the 7th. and also flew out.

Than Jason Giambi came in to pinch hit for Chris Iannetta and hit a HR to score himself and Helton (6-5) Marlins

Giambi and Helton running the base’s after Giambi’s HR.

The momentum continued when Eric Young Jr. pinched hit for Wiggington who entered the game in the 5th. Young would hit a single.

He would threaten to steal , but Marlins closer Leo Nunez would hold him at first.

Eric Young Jr. Diving back to first.

Dexter Fowler would than fly out to Short Stop to end the game. The Rockies would lose another way to familiar one run lose.

The Final score was (5-6).

That is it for this game one more in the series that I was also at.

The Rockies will be playing the Dodgers this weekend. Remember the Saturday game is not Telivised because it is blacked out because it is in the national broadcast window and is a 2:10 start.
