Arizona Diamondbacks Vs. Colorado Rockies
Starting Pitchers: Esmil Rogers Vs. Wade Miley
So once again the day started early for me for this afternoon baseball game. I left my house at 9 A.M. on my bike. The ride is about 14 miles from my house to Coors. The total ride took me and hour and 5 minutes. Once arriving at the stadium I immediately got my tix and headed to the Rockpile gate and met up with Gary X. The gates opened at 11A.M the batting practice screens were up but no one was hitting. The Diamondbacks started their batting practice a few minutes later. During the beginning of BP I saw Diamondbacks starting pitcher Ian Kennedy running the outfield so I paid attention, because I had a card of his I would like to have signed so after he was done he headed over to the fence in left field and started signing so I quickly headed over. He signed for a bunch of people and I got my card signed. The rest of BP was too to succesful. I did not snag any baseballs only came close to one that was a ground rule double which rolled up my glove and 2 rows back. After BP I saw that Rex Brothers and Matt Lindstrom were signing on the first base side so I quickly headed over to the wall and had a card signed by Rex Brothers. Before the Rockies warmed up Kevin Kousmanoff signed and I also got a card signed by him. We than sat down in our seats in an undisclosed section.
Esmil Rogers throwing the first to the D’backs Willie Bloomquist. Esmil started out very well getting the first 2 batters out. Both were deeply hit to the out field but caught by Dexter Fowler. ustin Upton than stepped to the plate and hit a solo HR. The D’backs took a quick 1-0 lead. The next batter would also fly out to right.
Dexter Fowler answered very quickly with a solo HR of his own to tie the game. This was Dexters third HR of the season and all three have been in the last week. Fowler Running the bases after his HR
It looked like the Rockies were putting together a good inning after Carlos Gonzalez hit a single and The Deuce walked The next 2 batters would get out including Kouzmanoffs first of many strike outs this game.
Esmil continued to pitch well in the 2nd inning. Sending the D’backs back to the dugout in order. He than contributed offensively with a 2 out double, but was left on base.
Esmil Rogers comfortably reaches second.
Esmil would walk 2 in the 2nd. but get out of the inning.
The D’backs threatened in the 3rd. after a Henry Blanco lead off the inning with a walk but was than thrown out at home.
Henry Blanco being called out by home-plate umpire Angel Hernandez.
Mark Ellis would lead off the 3rd inning with a Solo HR of his own. His 4th since coming to the Rockies. The Rockies taking a (2-1) lead.
The D’backs than scored 2 in the 4th inning. After a Paul Goldschmidt lead off walk and a Colin Cowgill double.
Esmil Rogers would be taken out of the game in the 6th inning. After the D’backs score a few runs. They went on to score 5 in the inning (8-2) D’backs. Josh Roenicke came into the game and also let up a hit to Gerrado Parra and hit Justin Upton with a pitch. Goldschmidt hit a base clearing almost triple an was thrown out at third. Roenicke pitches to Justin Upton after Parra got on first.
The Rockies would score a run in the 8th. After a Cargo hit a single and than a Timely hit by The Deuce, Cargo scored on a Kouzmanoff single. It was nice not to see the Rockies hit into a double play or have something stupid happen to get them out of the inning.
With 2 outs in the third and what looked like a (10-3) loss the Rockies gave a fight. First Dexter would hit his 2nd HR of the game. for the first run of the inning. (10-4) But it is not quite over and out Ellis and Gonzalez would both walk and The Deuce stepped to the plate. Now with his history in the clutch not being to succesful this season it seemed that the game was over he would probably over swing or strike out but not today. He would hit a 3 run Scoring Ellis and Cargo HR (10-7). It was nice that he proved me wrong. The game would than end with Kevin Kouzmanoffs third strike out of the game. despite a bad game he is doing well with the Rockies with 6 RBI’s and a .244 batting average in 12 game with the Rockies most of his hits have come on the road trip last week.
Than high-five Kevin Kouzmanoff.
Well the Rockies did not win, but they did make the game exciting and made the score almost reputable. Of cause we all would like to see the Rox win, but this late in the season and being so far from getting to the Playoffs it is just cool to see some effort from the team, only if they could start this 3 months ago. A
fter some good food and good times it was time to head home. So I hopped on the bike for the 14 miles home. It was a fun day at Coors.
Not Many game left this season and now that the Rockies are just playing for Pride and Tacos come out give a little support.
