Boston Red Sox vs. Colorado Rockies
My 71st Coors Game of the year. 84th with Road trip and the springs!
Not sure how or if I will ever be able to top this many games in a season again. Also with these numbers I have not counted spring training games.
This is the last series of the year at Coors.
Before the game I went to the pavilions for batting practice and got my last ball of the year from the Red Sox. hat was my 35th ball of the season in an MLB park. 34 were at Coors and 1 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. It was a ball I should have caught but dropt and it bounced back to me for the pick up. The Red Sox had one of the best batting practices I have seen from any team in a very long time they have a lot of power and these guys can hit everywhere.
Todd takes the field first for his second to last time. I took a similar shot a few days ago and really liked it so had to do it again.
Tyler Chatwood was the starting pitcher for the Rockies. He had an interesting first inning not what we are used to see from him after getting Shane Victorio out he hit Daniel Nava. and with 2 outs walk David Ortiz he did get out of the inning with just the 2 batters reaching but not a normal inning for him.
Victorino taking a swing in the first inning for his ground out for the first out of the game.
He we go Jarrod Saltalamacchia (hardest name to spell ever) grounded out to end the first inning.
John Lackey was the starting pitcher for the Red Sox.
Charlie Blackmon wasted no time getting the Rockies on the board, he hit a lead off home run on the third pitch thrown by Lackey. After D.J. LeMahieu and Troy Tulowitzki both got out Michael Cuddyer hit a double. He would score on a Todd Helton single and the Rockies had a 2-0 lead.
Between innings they gave away the Toyota that has been on top of the Tundra sign in left field all season. Someone won it don’t know who, but if the person that did ever stumbles upon this congrats.
Chatwood settled down in the second and third and was nearly floor less getting all 6 out in those 2 innings. He threw only 20 pitches in the 2 inning combined.
The Rockies scored a third run on a Troy Tulowitzki solo home run in the 3rd. inning.
The Red Sox got their first hit of the game in the 4th inning a lead-off single by Dustin Pedroia.
Corey Dickerson hit a home run of his own in the 4th. The Rockies had a 4-0 lead after 4.
David Ortiz makes contact in the 6th inning, which was an out to center field.
Charlie Blackmon making the catch from Ortiz that ended the inning.
Todd Helton hits a single to right field in the Bottom of the 6th.
Tyler Chatwood who had a great start pitching in the 7th inning.
Tyler Chatwood fields a ball tossed by Todd Helton he missed the catch for the out. The ball was hit by Jackie Bradley Jr.
He did throw the ball home as Bill Middlebrook ran from third.
Bradley Jr. slides into first after Pacheco got and tossed the ball back to Chatwood at home. Bradley Jr. slides into home and was called out.
That ended the 7th inning.
LeMahieu takes a swing for a single in the 7th inning. Scoring Pacheco and Ruthledge. (6-1) Rox
That would give the Red Sox 3 runs for the game and make the final score 8-3.
Mike Carp would make the final out of the game, striking out.
The Rockies celebrate this win over the Red Sox.
