Nicasio gets scalped by Braves!


Braves vs. Rockies

Game 2 of series.



This game was a train wreck from the start. The Braves immediately started getting hits and scoring runs off of Juan Nicasio with a total of 7 hits and 7 runs in the 1st inning. The hits started with a double by Jason Heyward and B.J. Upton to start the game and the last one of the inning was a grand slam home run by Andrelton Simmons.

Mike Minor started for the Braves he did not start that great either but he was not as bad as Nicasio. He would give up 3 runs in the first after Brandon Barnes started the game with a single and Dickerson walked. Troy Tulowitzki was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Wilin Rosario hit a single scoring Barnes to get the Rockies on the board.(7-1) Braves


Justin Morneau hit a sac-fly to center field that scored Dickerson from 3rd. for the second run for the Rockies. IMG_6452Dickerson crossing home-plate 7-2 Braves. The third run would come by a passed ball by Braves catcher Evan Gattis to score Tulo from third.

The Braves continued to add to their lead in the 3rd and the Rockies tried to chip away at the lead by scoring 2 additional runs in the 3rd. (8-5) Braves.


After giving up 2 solo home runs in the 4th inning Walt Weiss headed out and took Nicasio out of the game. The home runs were hit by Freddie Freeman and Evan Gattis. those runs would be the Braves 9th and 10th of the game.

IMG_6468Tommy Kahnle came into the game and held the Braves hitless for the 1.1 innings he pitched. Nicasio gave up 11 hits, 10 runs walked 4 and struck out 2 in his 3.2 innings pitched.

The Rockies did score 1 run in the 4th a solo home run by Wilin Rosario to give the Rockies their 6 run and they were still down by 4. !0-6 Braves.

IMG_6472  The Rockies would come within 2 runs in the 5th inning after Josh Rutledge started the inning with a triple and would score D.J. LeMahieu single.


Chad Bettis came into replace Kahnle in the 6th and showed why he keeps getting sent to the Springs. He gave up 3 runs on 4 hits, facing 8 Braves batters. to give the Braves another 5 run lead, 13-8.

The Rockies did once again to get close to the Braves score scoring 1 in the 7th and 8th for a 13-10 score.


The Braves brought in their closer Cole Kimbrel in the 9th to close out the game and he succeeded and the 13-10 score was the final. ( there you go E2theMNFnB)

In total the Rockies used 7 pitches Martin pitched the 7th, Belilse pitched the 8th and Nick Masset and Rex Brothers pitched in the 9th.

So the losing continues as the team has been derailing almost on a nightly bases. Oddly enough we still keep watching just to see who are the causality and who survives the carnage that this season has become.
