Angels Vs. Rockies

Salt River Fields at Talking stick

Last 2014 Spring Training game for me.

Today was the last day for a bunch of us at Salt River Fields. We decided to see how we could do on the Angels side of the field to see if we could get Albert Pujols, Mike Trout and others Smitty needed a Copy of Don Baylor’s book signed.

So while we were waiting I thought we should take some cheesy baseball card pose photos!

O.K. a few minutes later the team had arrived and it was time to play the game see if we would get anything signed. Most of us were unsuccessful. Smitty did get his book signed.

It was then time for the game we all love and came to see and that was baseball on this awesome spring afternoon at Salt River Fields.

IMG_0197

with the winning run on third and one out the Angels set up a defense I have only once before. They played with only 2 outfielders and set up with their left fielder in the infield. Jason Pridie hit a grounder and the set up worked for the Angels.  The ball was hit to Matt Long who was the left fielder to the short stop Andrew Romaine for the out at second and then to first for a double play to end the game in a 4-4 tie.

IMG_0198

The first time I had seen this play was in Ashville in 2011 against the drive and Corey Dickerson hit the ball over the infield for a Tourists win! This was the second tie for the Rockies in a row. The next day as the group of us were traveling home the Rockies tied for the 3rd straight game against the Dodgers.

After the game a few of us went out to dinner for Rachel and my birthday.

Than after diner Smitty and I decided to go to the Baseball City Experience at The Convention Center. We knew that Jose Conseco   was signing and we decided to head over. It was only to 8 and we arrived at about 7:30. Since it was almost over they lets us in for free.

IMG_0213

When we arrived there was not many people there and Jose was pitching to kids on a field they had to play wiffle ball.

IMG_20140315_200249

I was able to get a ball autographed

IMG_7342

And get a photo with him. Smitty had taken 2 photos I blinked in 1 and Jose was looking away in this one. Getting that his auto was defiantly great way to end a trip and an awesome day.

The Next day we headed home.

Along the way we made several stops one was to Winslow, Arizona

Here is the group of us “Standing on a corner….”

Well that is the end of Spring Training for me I had a great time with a great group of friends. Looking foreword to another great season with everyone. I know that no matter what happens with the Rockies I know it will be a fun season.

See you at Coors for Opening Day 2014!!!!

Hunter and Trout Fishing for runs!

Angels Vs. Rockies

My 29th Game at Coors

Batting Practice started off fast and furious with the Rockies hitting them out almost immediately. Carlos Gonzalez hit a few opposite field to the pavilions. The next group had Tyler Colvin and Chris Nelson in it Colvin hit a few out opposite field also and Nelly was crushing them. The Angel also hit many out I got 1 from them. Once again somebody got hit not paying attention out there. I can’t say it enough if you see people standing around with glove most likely there is a chance of a baseball being hit near, by or at you!!!. If you can’t catch it don’t try because when you miss it, it will hit somebody else. It has been very crowded out there so just keep an eye on the field.

So I am going to make this one somewhat short!

Alex White was the starting pitcher for the Rockies he pitched OK not to bad too good. C.J Wilson was the starting pitcher for the Angles He pitched real well!

Here is Tori Hunter batting in the 1st. He grounded out. He would hit a HR in the 3rd and 5th with Mike Trout on base both times. (4-0) Angles. He also had 6 of the Angels RBI’s.

Hey look it’s Albert Pujols. He hit a double in the 3rd and 9th inning.

The Rockies were hit less against the C.J. Wilson for 4 innings.

Helton made a great play in the 2nd to flip the ball to White to get Howie Kendrick out.

Michael Cuddyer sent one for a ride in the 2nd, but it was caught by Tori Hunter in right.

Bob Apodaca heads out to the mound in the 3rd. after Alex White got roughed up.

He continued to pitch.

Wilson pitches to Dexter Fowler in the 4th, Dex would strike out all 3 outs were struck. Cargo did break up the No-No if you can call it a No-No in the 4th with a bunt base hit.

Helton would hit a double to lead off the 5th. That was his 565th lifetime 22nd all time in doubles. He would be caught tagging up at 3rd after a Jordan Pacheco fly out.

Marco Scutaro hit a double in the 6th to score Eric Young Jr. who pinch hit for White. (4-1) Angels.

Marco Scutaro slides into second.

Esmil Rogers pitched in the 9th for the Rockies and was taken out. This may have been his last appearance at Coors. He was designated for assignment with no more options. The Angels scored 3 in the inning(7-1) Angels Rogers started the inning strong but was haunted with 2 outs. after that the only person that did not get a hit off him was Mike Trout who he hit with a 90+MPH pitch.

There was a ray of hope for the Rox in the 9th. With 2 outs Helton hit a single and Pacheco hit a triple to score him. (7-2) Angels.

Wilin popped one up to shallow left that looked like may have been a problem, but wasn’t and was caught to end the game the Rockies lost.

As I a writing this the Rockies also lost the second game of the series. 11-5

This was only the 3rd game I did not attend at Coors this year.

Well another one is done. Only a few weeks away from my 2012 road trip. I will post a schedule soon, but I will say, It will kick off in Tulsa and I will be at 2 against the Rangers.

I will be at Coors for the remainder of the home stand so see you at Coors.

The Angels kick Royal butt. Tempe Diablo Stadium, Day 8

3-22-2012

Kansas City Royals Vs. Anaheim Angels

Tempe Diablo Stadium

Tempe, Arizona

This was the first game of two for the day!

When we arrived at the stadium we watched a bit of batting practice which was across the parking lot from the stadium. Only one ball was hit out in about the 10 minutes or so we were out there.

I attended this game with “D” Rockpile Ranter and Jim from Nederland.

After entering the stadium I headed down to the Royals side of the field down the 3rd base-line.

Royals out-fielder Lorenzo Cain signing autographs.

Royals Mitch Maier catches a throw during warm ups.

After a little while out there I headed over to the Angels side of the field.

Former Rockie Chris Iannetta was stretching out there.

Newest Angel Albert Pujols takes the field.

The Angels starters leaving around the 7th inning.

Later in the game behind HP a very cool usher at Tempe Diablo let us sit in seats back there. We sat there for about a inning before the game ended.

The Angels Won this game 7-4.

Iannetta went 1 for 2 with a double and 2RBI’s nice to see him settle in with the new team.
