Dodgers vs. Rockies

Game 2 of series.

My I lost count game of the year.

Today was photo day this was the 3rd year I have attended photo day at Coors. I have also been to one in 2010 at Spring Training in Tucson. It is always really cool to see almost all the players and coaches. Here are a bunch of the photo.

IMG_2177

A view from center field from a very low angle on the center field warning track.

It was than time for the game. So we left the field and headed to the seats. We did see if anyone would sign today and I did not get any autographs. I not sure if anyone did sign.

IMG_2350

Jhoulys Chacin was the starting pitcher for the Rockies.

IMG_2367The Dodgers Carl Crawford started the game off with double.

Chacin got Mark Ellis grounded to Todd Helton at first.

IMG_2370

Adrian Gonzalez hit a single to get on base but was doubled up on a Andre Either hit to Tulo who tagged 2nd and threw over to first for the double play.

IMG_2384

Zack Greinke was the starting pitcher for the Dodgers. He sat the Rockies down in order in the first.

Chacin had a very good second inning only facing 3 batters his self.

IMG_2421

Michael Cuddyer started off the 2nd with a single and was moved over to 3rd on a Todd Helton single.

IMG_2435

Michael Cuddyer did score on a Nolan Arrenado double. Yorvit Torrealba walked and Jhoulys took a swing to hit into a double play.

IMG_2437

Getting Yorvit out at second…

IMG_2439

… and himself out at first to end the inning.

IMG_2442

The Dodgers picked up 3 runs in the 3rd inning. Tim Fedorowicz lead the inning with a home run (first of his career). Zach Greinke hit a single followed up by a Carl Crawford double he was removed from the game with a hamstring pull. Scott Van Slyke replaced him as a pinch runner and stayed in the game in left. The other 2 runs were score by Greinke on a Adrian Gonzalez sac fly. and Van Slyke on a Jerry Hairston single and Mark Ellis was out at first. (3-1) Dodgers

IMG_2444

After both Dexter and D.J. LeMahieu both struck out Carlos Gonzalez hit a triple and was left on base.

IMG_2459

There was no scoring till the 5th when Cargo hit a home run that was caught by Dan. The Rockies scored 3 runs in the inning 2 were on the Cargo home run the first was Torrealba on a Dex single. (4-3) Rox

IMG_2473

The Dodgers picked up 2 runs in the 6th inning. The runs were scored on a very good small ball inning with singles by Schumaker and Punto. They scored on a Tim Federowicz double ( also his first of career). After a ball was hit back to Zach Greinke that was off the dirt  it was close and looked like it was caught. (5-4) Dodgers.  Don Mattingly came out and argued the call and than was thrown out by first base umpire Brian Night. He was arguing with the home plate umpire when this happened, he than went on and yelled at Night for a few more minutes.

The Dodgers went on and scored 1 run in the 7th (6-4) Dodgers

IMG_2511

Michael Cuddyer hit a 2 run home run in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game at 6.

IMG_2517

Cuddy high-fiving the Bat boy.

IMG_2536

Jay Howell the 4th Dodger pitcher of the game on the mound in the 8th inning. Greinke pitched 5 and 1/3 innings allowing 9 hits and 4 runs.

Jhoulys Chacin would pitch 6 innings, he allowed 9 hits and 5 runs. He was replaced by Josh Outman in the 7th.

IMG_2580

Todd Helton striking out in the 10th.

IMG_2583

Howell being taken out of the game in the 10th inning by dodgers bench coach Trey Hilman who took over the team in the 6th when Mattingly was ejected.

IMG_2591

Yorvit Torrealba hitting his 10th inning single.

IMG_2597

Wilin Rosario legging out this single hit to Nick Punto at short in the 10th inning. He hit in the pitchers spot.

IMG_2605

Dex swinging at the first pitch of the at bat, to left for a single scoring Yorvit.

IMG_2608

Another walk of hit for Dexter Fowler.

IMG_2610

Yorvit crosses home after the Dex hit for the Rockies 7-6 win over the Dodgers to tie this series at 1 game a piece.

IMG_2626

Everyone piling on to Dex who is somewhere in the pile of people at first. Not sure what Matt Belise was doing but it looked like he was punching someone after he got the win with this run!

So after a few lead changes the Rockies came out on top taking this one from the Dodgers.

That is it for this one there is one more from this series against the Dodgers with a special Appearance by The Big Cat!

See You at Coors.

Garland started strong than things went wrong.

Dodgers vs. Rockies

IMG_1818

Got a tele converter figured I would try something different! The Tele doubles the lens size = Closure to the action!

IMG_1837

Here is one of my favorites from before the game. As Wilin Rosario and Jon Garland were heading in from the bull pen.

IMG_1850

Jon Garland throwing first pitch to Mark Ellis. He got all three batters to ground out for the first inning and the second. Things looked to be turning round for him since some really bad starts recently.

IMG_1870

Adrian Gonzalez hitting the ball in the first.IMG_1873

D.J. LeMahieu throwing to Jordan Pacheco at First for the final out in the first out.

IMG_1876

Clayton Kershaw was the starter for the Dodgers. Eric Young Jr. led the game by being walked by Kershaw.

IMG_1879

Eric Young Jr. at first base. He would get out at second in the inning when Dexter Fowler hit line drive to short and EYJ did not get back to first.

IMG_1897

Nolan Arenado makes a throw to first to get Ramon Hernandez out at first in the 2nd inning.

IMG_1903

Skip Shumaker tosses the bat after making contact and it was fielded by D.J. LeMahieu who threw to first for the out and the end of the 2nd inning.

Jon Garland got roughed up in the 3rd after a good 1st and 2nd inning. He started the inning by hitting Jose Cruz which was followed by a Juan Uribe double. Uribe scored on a Mark Ellis single, Ellis would also score on a Adrian Gonzalez single. Ramon Hernandez ended the inning by hitting a double play.

IMG_1916

Cruz not so smoothly sliding into home for the dodgers first run in the 3rd inning. The Dodgers score 2 runs in the 4th inning as well Scott Van Slyke started the 4th with a double and would later score the first run of the inning.  Juan Uribe scored also. (5-0) Dodgers

IMG_1939

Dexter Fowler getting things started in the 4th for the Rockies with a 1 out single. Dex and Tulo both scored in the inning. (5-2)Dodgers

IMG_1961

Yorvit Torrealba not happy with a pop out in the 6th inning to short when he pinched hit for Garland.

IMG_1980

It was another great sunset night at Coors this is a look from the lower concourse. I than headed up to the third level.

IMG_1993He is that view. I went up a little late but still not bad.

IMG_2019

EYJ making contact in the 7th inning. Chipped up the bat a little bit. He did ground out to short to end that inning.

IMG_2044

In the 8th inning Tulo would get a single on this pitch in the 8th inning with Dex on base, Dex moved to third on the hit and would score a few batters later when Wilin Rosario would hit into a double play.

IMG_2052

Clayton Kershaw was taken out after the Tulo single.

IMG_2054

Kenley Jansen would come into the game. Kershaw threw 100 pitches, allowed 3 run on 8 hits striking out 5 and walking 2. Jon Garland pitched 5 for the Rockie giving up 5 runs on 7 hits, striking out 1 and walking 3.

IMG_2088

Yorvit walking of after Adrian Gonzalez struck out in the 8th. the Rockies got a run in the 8th Dex would lead off again with a single and score. (5-3) Dodgers. Wilton Lopez pitched the 8th for the Rockies and pitched well. only facing 3 batters and struck out Uribe.

IMG_2100

Todd Helton came into pinch hit in the 9th in the pitchers spot and with this swing hit his 358th home run of his career and 4th of the season to tie the game at 5. IMG_2104

It was defiantly a watch and admire home run as hit was hit to the second deck in right.

IMG_2113

Todd runs to first after hitting the homerun. and the BNW to show off the mad photo skillz.

IMG_2120

Todd high fives D.J. who was on base when Todd hit the home run.

IMG_2138

Rafael Betancourt pitched the 10th for the Rockies and it was not his best appearance. He faced 6 batters and the Dodgers scored 2 runs.

IMG_2141

Carl Crawford came into the game to pinch run for Ramon Hernandez who lead off the inning with a single. Crawford would be the Dodgers first run of the inning.

The Final score was 7-5 as the Rockies slide continues that is the 4th lose this week to a team with a bad record. They are now 28-27 this season and are 2.5 games behind the Diamondbacks in the west and in 3rd place 1 behind the Giants.

Well that is it for this rollercoaster of a game there are 2 more left in this series a Saturday day. It is also photo day which is always a good time.

See You at Coors.

Playing at their worst against the worst.

Astros vs. Rockies

IMG_1660

Today I headed to the stadium after work which means I miss a little bit of batting practice, mostly the Rockies 15 minutes or so as I came in the were on their last group. The Astros than took the field. Their first group hit pretty well but not necessarily where I was. In the second or third group one came out and went over Dan’s glove and caught me in the arm and I did not get the ball the very next ball was hit 2 rows behind me and I got it on the rebound roll. We noticed earlier in batting practice that they were hitting the 50th anniversary baseball from the Astros last year. The one I caught was a commemorative ball.  That was the only ball from batting practice but defiantly one for the collection.

After batting practice I headed over to the wall for autos and Todd Helton and Jeff Francis signed. I did get a card signed by Todd and got Amy a Jeff Francis card signed since she had a few and he got my stuff last week and I had nothing for him to sign it is great to get things done for players.

IMG_1664

The Bullpen Crew heading in for the start. Jim Wright, Jerry Weinstein, Yorvit Torrealba and starting pitcher Juan Nicasio.

IMG_1678

Juan Nicasio throwing the first pitch to the Astros Brandon Barnes. he struck out Barnes to start the game. Jose Altuve grounded out and the next batter Jason Castro was walked. J.D. Martinez hit a single and Carlos Pena struck out to end the inning. The Astros did not score in the inning and Nicasio got himself out of the inning.

IMG_1689

Martinez dives back to first.

IMG_1695

Jason Harrell started the game for the Astros.

IMG_1702

Carlos Gonzalez was the first runner for the Rockies after Dexter Fowler and struck out and D.J. Lemahieu grounded out. cargo walked he was scored on a Michael Cuddyer single and bad throw to first which he moved to second and Tulo who also walked to get on base moved to third.

The Rockies got a second run in the 2nd inning Yorvit Torrealba scored on a Dexter Fowler double. An additional run was scored in the 3rd inning; the score was 3-0.

The Astros did score a single run in the 4th. Jason Castro started the inning with a single and scored a few batters later. Nicasio did benefit when Pena grounded into a double play with Martinez on base.

During the 3rd inning Jose Altuve at bat I finally got something that has eluded me for years. I finally got my first MLB game ball in a MLB stadium. It was a ricochet off the LED board between the lower level and club level. It hit the board and bounced off someone and down an Aisle where I picked it up. I have gotten them in Spring training and Minor League stadiums but this was my first in a MLB Stadium.

IMG_2149

This is the ball with the Rockies 20th Anniversary Logo.

The Astros started the 6th inning with 5 consecutive hits Castro, Martinez and Pena hit singles.

IMG_1720

Juan Nicasio was taken out of the game after the Pena single and Jose Lopez came in and the hits just kept on coming. Chris Carter and Matt Dominguez hit back to back home runs off Lopez. Lopez than got 3 consecutive outs including 2 strike outs. Adam Ottavino pitched the 7th and 8th inning and Josh Outman pitched in the 9th.

The Rockies bats were really cold for most of the game. Swinging at bad pitches and trying to hit the no men on base grand slam home runs. SMALL BALL! Try it, it works.

IMG_1739

Tulo makes contact in the 6th inning. The Rockies did score a run in the inning with 2 outs Dexter Fowler walked D.J. LeMahieu and Cargo both had hits. Cargo got out at second on the Tulo hit to short.

IMG_1768

Cargo lead off the 9th inning with a single. Followed by a Tulo single, Cargo stole second.

IMG_1778

Not sure what Tulo was swinging at on this pitch but he did get a single!

IMG_1780

Tulos hit in the 9th.

IMG_1794

Michael Cuddy fell victim to the swinging at bad pitches as well he struck out for the first out of the inning.

IMG_1800

Todd Helton hit a sac fly to left and Cargo scored.

IMG_1805

Nolan Arenado also swung a little wild during his 9th inning at bat. He also struck out for the final out of the game. This was the Rockies 3rd lose to the Astros in the 4 games played this week. The Astros came into this game 16-37 the second worst team in baseball behind the Miami Marlins. After this game they 17-37 and 3 of the 17 are against the Rockies that is kind of sad. It seems like we have been playing down to teams like this and than have trouble against the better teams. These should have been a few games that should not of been lost. The bats have to get going in a timely manner. We are getting the runners on base and not home. In the 4 games against the Astros the Rockies left 38 runners on base. 23 in Houston and 15 the 2 games at Coors. A lot of lost opportunities during this game and the entire series.

Well that is it for this one. The Rockies take on the Dodgers this week end the last place team in the National League west. Lets see how this turns out.

See You At Coors!

The Tulo Show, Rox Come Up Short Against the Astros.

5-29-2013
Houston Astros vs. Colorado Rockies

IMG_1484

Today because of rain in the area they had an Early Batting Practice and by the time the gates opened at 4:30 the tarp was on the field. So once again this is a game with a loss of batting practice. I feel like there are game without batting practice more than game with these days.

IMG_1490

Tyler Chatwood throwing the first pitch to the Astros Brandon Barnes. Barnes would ground out and Tyler would strike out the next two batters Jose Altuve and Jason Castro.

 IMG_1523

Barnes taking a swing at a Chatwood pitch.

 IMG_1525

Nolan Arenado fielding the grounder to third.

 IMG_1528

Jordan Pacheco making the grab for the out.

Chatwood continued to pitch well throughout the game he did let up a run in the 2nd and again struck out 2 of the Astros batters. He also struck out 1 in the 3rd 2 in the 4th and 5th. The Astros did get a single run in the 6th.
IMG_1530
Troy Tulowitzki got the Rockies on the board in the 4th with a solo home run to tie the game at 1.
IMG_1543
Here he is with arms raised entering the dugout after hitting his home run.
He would be responsible for getting the Rockies go ahead run in the 5th also, by hitting a double scoring Pacheco (2-1) Rockies.
IMG_1553
Tulo at second after his 5th inning RBI double.
IMG_1555
Jim Wright visiting the mound in the 6th inning.
Chatwood would not return to pitch in the 7th inning. He had a pretty good game striking out 10 Astros his career high and the first time since last July since a Rockies started had 10 strike outs in a game. The last 10 strike out game was on May 14, 2012 by Christian Friedrich. Thanks @rockies twitter feed for this tid bit of info!
IMG_1562
Carlos Gonzalez throwing ball back after making a catch in the 6th inning.
IMG_1565
Jose Altuve scoring on the sac fly to Cargo hit by Jason Castro. The game was than tied at 2.

IMG_1586

Edgmer Escolona coming out of the game in the 8th inning.

The final out of the 8th made by Rex Brothers as Altuve gets caught between third and home. The Astros did get a run in the 8th. Marwin Gonzalez scored on a J.D. Martinez single. (3-2) Astros

 IMG_1593
Than the chase was on…..
IMG_1605
It was than the best part of when idiots run on the field and that is the takedown.

IMG_1613IMG_1616IMG_1622
Then it was time for what would be my favorite part of being dragged off the field and that is the free tour of the bullpen!
IMG_1630
I give this guy credit he did come from center field and made it to dirt!
IMG_1632
Todd came into see if he could get anything going in the 8th he would walk and Jonny Herrera would come in to pinch run for him. With the walk Todd and Dexter Fowler the Rockies could not produce a run in the inning. Pacheco did hit hard but it was caught by Altuve. If it cleared to the outfield it may have been a 2 run single with the speed that was on base.
The Astros scored 2 additional runs in the 9th inning. The first a leadoff home run by CarlosPena and Jimmy Paredes got on base with a single and scored on a Barnes single.
The Rockies attempt of a comeback was weak.
IMG_1640
Cargo flew out to center.
IMG_1643
Tulo did get his 3rd RBI of the game with another solo home run. Wondering why he and the infielders are looking into left field this time well it was not another opposite field home run like in the 4th.
IMG_1646
It was another idiot. This time coming from the right field side. He did not make it as far. The no shoes may have been part of it.
IMG_1653
Rock on Dumbass thanks for coming!!! Most of all thanks for giving yourself the opportunity to ever return!
So that is it the Rockies lost 6-3 to the Astros. There is one more in this inter-league series with the Astros.

See You at Coors.

Cargo unloaded on Cahill in Rox Win!

4-22-2013

Diamondbacks vs. Rockies

My 25th game of the season at Coors.

Today being a day game  meant no batting practice but I does mean there is a good chance to get pitchers autographs. So after the stadium completely opened we headed down to the wall on the Rockies side of the field. There were a few player throwing and getting in their pregame warm ups and work mainly consisting of throwing, running and stretching. the starting pitcher from a few games ago may do a bullpen session. So after they were done Jeff Francis, Tyler Chatwood and Wilton Lopez stopped an signed. before the start of the game Wilin Rosario who did not start this game came out and signed for a while when he got to me I had him sign 2 photos one of him and Juan Nicasio and another of Him, Jerry Weinstein, Tyler Chatwood and Jim Wright. I also had Tyler sign it when he was signing. It was the first photo in the post about Saturdays game. http://roxaddict.mlblogs.com/2013/05/19/lincecum-fall-and-holds-onto-the-ball/

D.J LeMahieu also came over to sign because I had a photo to give him of a play he made last year. He signed a copy for me and another photo I had taken in the springs a few weeks ago.

IMG_1334

Today Jorge De La Rosa started for the Rockies. He had a very good first inning facing only 3 batters and the last 2 outs were strike outs to Didi Gregorious and Paul Goldschmidt.

IMG_1352

Trevor Cahill started for the Diamondbacks. After getting both Eric Young Jr. and D.J. LeMahieu both to fly out to right.

IMG_1361Carlos Gonzalez hit a solo home run to get the Rockies on the board. Cargo crossing the plate after his 1st. inning Homerun.

IMG_1365Dexter Fowler followed that up with a  double and scored on a Nolan Arenado double. Photo of Nolan Arenado making the big turn at first.

IMG_1366 Dexter scoring on the Arenado Double.

The Rockies would take a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

De La Rosa held the Diamondbacks hitless and scoreless in the 2nd. inning. He di walk the second batter of the inning Gerardo Parra, he remained on base as Martin Prado and Wil Nieves got out.

IMG_1377

The Rockies and especially Cargo got on Cahill once again in the 3rd inning, D.J. LeMahieu hit a single with one out and Cargo than hit a triple scoreing LeMahieu. Cargo Scored on a wild pitch by Cahill.

IMG_1389

Jorge was taken out of the game in the 6th inning after throwing 103 pitches, striking out 5, walking 2 and giving up 1 run in the 4th. The run was after a Cody Ross lead off single he than scored on a Will Nieves single 2 batters later.

IMG_1394

Edgmer Escolona came into pitch the remainder of the 6th inning and the 7th.

IMG_1399

In the 6th inning Dexter Fowler hit a ball down the line in right Rene Lacheman first questioned the call and then Walt Weiss headed out of the dugout after talking with the 1st base umpire Doug Eddings he went back to the dugout…IMG_1404… and came back out of the dugout and headed to home plate umpire and crew chief Dana Demuth.

IMG_1406

The umpires than headed into review the play.

IMG_1416

After a few minutes the ump’s headed back out to the field and called it a foul.

IMG_1426

Dexter Fowler got on base by hitting a single and than got in Cahill’s head who threw over to first base a few times.

IMG_1428

With good reason Dex than stole second base. IMG_1434

He was called safe as Didi Gregourious threw the ball to second baseman Josh Wilson thinking he was out.

IMG_1442

Yorvit Torrealba tried to catch the D’backs off guard and tried to put down a bunt and popped it up to D’backs catcher Wil Nieves.

IMG_1452

Another ex Rockies Will Harris came into pitch for the D’backs in the 8th inning.

IMG_1459

Cargo also tried the bunt thing, it was fielded by Harris for the second out of the 8th inning. Cargo had a good shot of hitting of hitting another cycle with his first hits were the Home Run and Triple. he just did not finish it but had a great game getting 3 RBI’s and scoring twice. accounting for 3 of the 4 Rockies runs.

Matt Belise and Rex Brothers finished up the game both pitching an inning each. Belise the 8th and Brothers came out for the save. They each faced 3 batters.

IMG_1464

Yorvit comes out and hugs brothers after Rex’s 2nd career save and first for this season.

IMG_1475

With this win and the Giants losing to the Nationals there is now a 3 way tie for first place in the National League West. All 3 teams had Thursday off and the Rockies will be in San Francisco for a weekend series. The Diamondbacks are playing the Padres in Phoenix this weekend.

So the Rockies won 4-1 and this post is done!

The Patrick Corbin Show!

5-20-2013

Diamondbacks vs. Rockies

My 23rd game of the season at Coors.

O.K this is going to be my shortest post ever!!! I only took 97 photos all night.

There were not many Highlights.

IMG_7669

This photo not even from this game I took it from the last time the Diamondbacks were here!

IMG_1008

John Garland was the starting pitcher for the Rockies. The Diamondbacks went down in order in the 1st.

IMG_1022

Patrick Corbin started and well lets just put it this way and finished the game for the Diamondbacks in an amazing pitching performance. He sat the Rockies down in order not only in the 1st, but the 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th and 9th! The first Rockies runner was their own pitcher Jon Garland in the 3rd inning he reached on a fielders error at second baseman Martin Prado. The Rockies first hit was in the 4th inning when Troy Tulowitzki hit a single. The Diamondbacks got 5 runs in the game 1 in the 2nd when Eric Chavez started the inning with a triple and scored on a Miguel Montaro force play at second getting Jason Kubel out at second and Chavez scored.

The Diamondbacks also scored 2 in the 2nd playing a bunch of small ball. Cobined in the inning they hit 4 singles to score the 2 runs. The third they also scored 1 run A.J. Pollock lead off with a double and scored Didi Gregorius  on a  double.  Their fifth and final run was scored in the 6th again with a small ball inning 2 singles and 1 run.

IMG_1057

This is a photo of Corbin throwing only his 88th pitch in the 8th inning. In the game he only gave up one run in the 8th inning. Nolan Arenado started the inning with a double with 1 out. Jordan Pacheco who pinch hit for the pitchers than hit a double and Arenado scored.

IMG_1082

Troy Tulowitzki batting in the 9th and took this pitch for a ball. This was just one of the few at bats I photographed the whole game.

IMG_1084

He than grounded out to Didi Gregourios to end the game. it was a complete game shut out for Corbin. He is now 7-0 on the year with 9 starts he has a 1.44m ERA it was really efficient with his pitch placement and got a lot of ground ball outs besides the 10 strike outs. Fly outs, pop outs and line outs only accounted for 4 outs the entire game.

IMG_1091The diamondbacks won this one and are 2 games ahead of the Rockies. After this game they were in 3rd 1 game behind the Giants.

The Final score was 5-1

That is it for this one I will be at Coors for the rest of the series against the Diamondbacks.

See You at Coors.

Giants vs. Rockies Game 4

My 22nd game of the year.IMG_0830

Today was a Sunday day game, so that means it was a autograph Sunday and They were also giving away a bobble head. Today it was of Dante Bichette.

IMG_0761

The Bobble head was of his fist bump after his Coors Field opening game 14th inning walk off home run on April 26, 2013

After we got in of course we had to wait for the 12:40 autograph session. While we were waiting Michael Cuddyer was throwing and running.

IMG_0764

IMG_0766

He was wearing his Kick Their Ass’s not ours t-shirt!

IMG_0772

This is the back of the shirt as he headed back to dugout. The signers today was Jeff Francis, Charlie Blackmon, Wilin Rosario and Tyler Chatwood. I needed 3 of the 4 on my team project. I knew it was going to take work but I was able to get Francis and Rosario during the autograph session with a little help. Than Charlie Blackmon who I also needed signed during warm ups. Then I was informed that Michael Cuddyer was doing an interview on the Root set so I headed over and when he was done I got him on it also so that was 4 guys I needed on my team project. Now all I need is Troy Tulowitzki and D.J. Lemahieu. This is the most successful team project I have had and it is almost done and it is not even June. I know I can get D.J. it is going to probably take the rest of the year to get Tulo! He is usually close to the last person I get on my team projects. Also Cuddy said he was doing well and he is going to be evaluated on Tuesday and then they will know when he will comeback to playing or if he will be rehabbing with the Sky Sox.

Here is Dante Warming up before throwing out his first pitch.

They are both back working with the Rockies Vinny As the special Assitant to the GM and Dante is the batting coach.

Juan Nicasio throwing first pitch to Angel Pagan. Juan had one of his best outing we have seen in a long time. had 1,2,3 first with the final out of the inning being a strike out to Pablo Sandoval. He was very good with his placement and had many ground ball outs.

IMG_0839

Barry Zito was the starting pitcher for the Giants Eric Young Jr. led off the game for the Rockies with a single.

Cargo handing his shin guard to 1st base coach Rene Lachman after getting his RBI single.

IMG_0876

Cargo Advanced to second on a Troy Tulowitzki ground out and after Giants first baseman Brandon Belt tagged first he threw to second baseman Nick Noonan. Cargo than landed on Noonan and seemed to injure his shoulder.

IMG_0880Noonan taking a few throws to make sure the shoulder was OK.

IMG_0885In the 5th inning I  took a walk out to the pavilions to Visit the Ranter. Took a few photos along the way. Here is Juan Nicasio pitching to Brandon Belt. Belt would ground out to first fo the first out of the inning.

IMG_0894

Juan Nicasio still pitching in the 6th inning. At this point of the game he had 3 strike outs and the giants only had 1 hit. The second Giants hit of the game was in this inning and that was by Gregor Blanco. He also walked Noonan both runners were left on base.

The Rockies got something going in the bottom of the 5th. Dexter Fowler led the inning off with a base hit Cargo would score him for the Rockies second run of the game.  Cargo would score on a Jordan Pacheco single. (3-0) Rockies

IMG_0907

D.J lemahieu would hit into a force getting Pacheco out at second after Brandon Belt threw to Brandon Crawford who was covering first. Crawford than threw back to first to get LeMahieu out at first and over threw the base.

IMG_0912

As Lemahieu advanced to second Crawford than booted the ball off his glove away from the base LeMahieu successfully reached second. Rutledge would than strike out to end the inning.

IMG_0946

I headed back to my spot on the first baseline and got Tulo hitting this single in the 6th inning scoring Young and Fowler. The rockies were now up 5-0 over the Giants.

IMG_0959

Matt Belise pitched the 7th inning for the Rockies. Juan Nicasio pitched 6 complete innings. He struck out 5, walked 1 and only allowed 3 hits and no runs. This was a really good start for the struggling Nicasio great to see him do well. This really needed to be a great start for him and it was.

IMG_0979

Rex Brothers finished up the game pitching in the 9th. He struck out Hunter Pence, Brandon Belt grounded out and than he struck out Gregor Blanco. The Rockies won this game 5-0 and it was the first time Zito has lost to the Rockies. The Rockies had 5 runs on 11 hits and he walked 5 batters.

That is it for this game and this series. The Rockies took the series 3-1 and is the first time the Rockies won a series against the Giants since I think 2010 or so. Nice to see them beat a team above them in the division. Giants errors did help and the Rockies used them to there advantage through the series.

Next up at Coors 3 against the Diamondbacks I will be there for the whole series.

See you at Coors!
