Dodgers vs. Rockies
Andres Galarraga Bobble Head day
Like usual we arrived at the stadium really early to get on line for the bobble heads and autograph. Not as much for the bobble heads but to have good positioning in line for autographs. Like always a few minutes before the gates opened they let you know who or who may be signing. I got a text from someone at the stadium saying that the Big Cat may be signing. This would of been great since none of the other players who have had bobble heads have signed on there bobble head day. After we got in we found out that he was not signing and the signers were D.J. LeMahieu,Eric Young Jr., Edgmer Escolona and rob Scahill. So that was great I needed D.J. on my team project and had a photo for Escolona so I had mom take 16×20 to D.J. and I got on Edgmers line which was also the line that was rumored to be where Andres Galarraga would be signing if he did. Which gave me the versatility I would need if it was him. So I got Edgmer to sign a print of a photo I had either taken this year or last in spring training.
As we waited for the signers to come out which is over a half hour I have been taking out the bobble heads and taking a photo of them on the wall with the field behind them. As I took it out of the box I noticed the bat was missing so I asked the usher working the line if I could go get a new one and she let me so I headed back to the gate and they immediately helped me and handed me a new one. So that is the one in the photo.
Eric Young Jr’s line
D.J. LeMahieu taking a ball to sign.
Always get a smile from EYJ when he signs for you!
After autographs were done we noticed lights set up in front of the Rockies dugout and it was for a photo that Andres Galarraga would take with on the Venezuelan players on the Rockies current roster. The players in the photo were Carlos Gonzalez, Edgmer Escolona, Jonny Herrera, Jhoulys Chacin and Rafael Betancourt.
Here is what it looked like! This photo is courtesy of the Colorado Rockies twitter @Rockies. An a very rare photo not taken by me on this blog!
Here is Jonny Herrera signing autographs. That is actually my photo he is signing, Thanks to John for running it over to him for me. It was a pretty good day for autographs I got Edgmer, Jonny and Tyler Chatwood each on an 8×10 and D.J. on my team 16×20. Tyler stopped and signed after the pitchers warmed up while we were on line for the autograph Sunday autographs.
Michael Cuddyer during the National Anthem. I have taken it before but it is always a favorite of mine with the flag his stance and attention to the color guard.
Andres Galarraga waving as he is announce to throw out the first pitch.
Here he is throwing the pitch did really well from the mound.
He throw to fellow Venezuelan Carlos Gonzalez.
Here is Jorge De La Rosa taking the mound before his start.
Jorge throwing the first pitch of the game to the Dodgers Nick Punto.
here is a look at Cargo in left field. with the Vote for CarGo sign in the background.
Jonny Herrera at Short giving the base coverage sign to D.J. LeMahieu at second base.
Dexter Fowler wasted no time to keep his momentum rolling from Saturday nights walk off. With this first pitch home run that Andre Either could only watch as it hit the second fence in the Rockies bull pen. So in 2 at bats and only 2 pitches Dexter has won a game and took the lead in a second game. Not bad Don’t forget to vote for Dex when filling out those All-Start ballots. The Rockies scored a second run also, D.J. LeMahieu walked stole second advanced to third on a throwing error and scored on a Michael Cuddyer sac fly to center field. 2-0 Rockies
The Dodgers did not let the Rockies to hold the lead for long they scored 2 of there own in the 2nd. inning. Andre Either singled to get on base and so did Luis Cruz. They would both score on this Skip Shumaker double that he tried to stretch into a triple and was tagged out by Nolan Arenado. That is just a case of no one read the scouting report that said Cargo has an above average arm and running to third is stupid if the ball is in left field. I think the squirrel that was on his baseball card a few years ago know that! Well he got 2 RBI’s I guess the out is kinda irrelevant.
Todd helton showed that he still had his bat in the 4th when the next run of the game was scored on his lead off home run. Here he is crossing the plate and slapping Arenado five after the homer. This run gave the Rockies a 3-2 lead. The Rockies went on to score an additional run in the inning Herrera scored after being walked on a LeMahieu single. (4-0) Rockies
Matt Magil pitching in the 4th inning. he remained in the game through the 6th inning which meant another Rockies run in the 5th and 6th. In the 5th it was a homerun to Michael Cuddyer with Jorge on base and in the 6th it was Dexter Fowlers second home run of the game also a lead off home run.
Adam Ottavino came in to pitch the 8th and 9th innings for the Rockies. Jorge pitched a very good 7 innings, he let up only 2 runs, 6 hits, walking 2 and striking out 5. He also threw 94 pitches in 7 innings which is very good. Ottavino finished the game with out letting a Dodger on base. He said take that Dodgers for leaving Brooklyn! he struck out 4 and I think he should be called Brookkkklyn!
After Magil was taken out Matt Guerier pitched the 7th for the Dodgers and Peter Moylan pitched the 8th.
The Baby Bull and Brookkkklyn with the fist bump after the 7-2 win in this one and the 2nd win taking the series from the Dodgers.
With Dexter’s 2 home runs he was the player of the game.
remember to Vote for dex and all the Rockies for the All-Star game. Here is a link you can vote up to 25 times online a day!
The only thing that would of made this game better would have been Tom Helmer jumping on the desk for the post game show! Once again with Joel leaving roots sports we are trying to bring back Helmer if you agree let roots sports know that you want him back. Either on Facebook, twitter or there website.
Bring Back Helmer.
That is it for this series and home stand the Rockies return after a short road trip to play the Reds on Thursday.
See You at Coors!
Dodgers vs. Rockies.
My 48th game at Coors this year!
This day started early once again I headed to lodo about 2 hours before gate to hang with the Ranter. We headed towards Jacksons for a few drinks before heading in for BP. After heading in we immediately headed the pavilions. Within a few minutes I got the first ball hit out by the Rockies. it hit about 2 rows behind me and bounced back. This was my 19th ball of the year in MLB ballparks counting te 1 from Atlanta. Not very good numbers for the amount of games attended. I should have had another but I was going into my bag for something when it was hit about 6 feet to my left. During the end of BP I had given up on catching baseballs and headed towards the Dodgers dugout. I was trying to get a Jaime Wright photo signed. I did not get him but did get a Clayton Kershaw on a Dodger stadium 50 Anniversary ball. unfortunately he signed it on the Rawlings Logo side in marker. After that I headed over to the Rockies side and got a Tyler Colvin card signed and a Josh Ruttledge card signed. Jordan Pacheco also signed as always. Thanks guys for being so cool to the fans continually.
Tyler Chatwood was the Starter for the Rockies this game here he is with “The Baby Bull” Wilin Rosario heading to the dugout from the bullpen.
Tyler Chatwood throwing the first pitch to the Dodgers Mark Ellis. Mark Ellis would reach base on a strike out passed ball. He would get out on second on a Shane Victorino hit to second.
Mark Ellis takes a pitch inside during his at bat. In the inning Victorino would steal second Matt Kemp would be walked and Adrian Gonzalez would hit into a double play.
Mark Ellis throwing to first base to get Tyler Colvin out in the first.
Chris Capuano started for the Dodgers. Here he is throwing to Josh Ruttledge. Josh Rutledge would hit a shot deep to left center.
Matt Kemp watch out for the wall!!!
The ball which it looks like he did catch the ball but it popped out of his glove. Shane Victorino came to make the play from left.
Kemp stayed down for a few minutes.
Josh Ruttledge made it to third on the play.
Don Mattinly and the Dodgers training staff immediately ran to the out field as well as the Coors Field security staff.
after a few minutes he stood up appeared to be O.K. and remained in the game.
Jordan Pacheco would than hit a ball to shallow left field.
Matt Kemp as a true professional than dove for the ball.
He missed it after the first hit I think he should have went for the one in the middle but guess he did not get the ball. Ruttledge would score and Pacheco would get to second.
Andre Either runs after this one.
Pacheco slides into second. Rosario would hit a single and score Pacheco from second. (2-0) Rockies
matt Kemp would than start walking off the field. The Dodgers trainer would head out and walk in with him.
Wilin Rosario jumps back to first.
Andrew Brown would hit a double scoring Rosario. (3-0) Rox The Rockies would score a fourth run when D.J. Le Mahieu also hit a double and Brown scored. (4-0) Rox.
The Dodgers would score a run in the second. (4-1) Rox
Rosario hit home run #22 in the 3rd. He is 3 away from the Rockies Rookie HR record set by Todd Helton in his Rookie season. (5-1) Rox
The Dodgers scored a second run in the 4th. (5-2) Rox The Rockies got an additional run in the 4th. (6-2) Rox
Jaime Wright pitching to the Rockies Wilin Rosario in the 7th inning with Pacheco on first and Rutledge on third. He would get out of the inning allowing 2 runs. (8-2) Rox.
Wilin Rosario returns to first after his 7th inning hit and Pacheco being called safe at third. This hit also scored Rutledge for one of the 2 Rockies runs.
Don Mattingly would argue the call at third.
Chris nelson goes for the third out in the 9th a pop out to the third base seats.
he missed it and went for a ride on the tarp!
Luis Cruz who pinched hit and struck out to end the game.
The Rockies win 8-4 to win the second game of this 3 game series against the Dodgers.
immediately after the game we headed towards the Rockies dugout to get a Adam Ottavino auto Amy needed him on a ball and I had printed a photo of him to sign he stopped and he signed for us. we than headed out side of the stadium and waited for players to come out and I got Clayton Kershaw to sign a card which he personalized and I also got a really cool auto when Matt Treanor came out and we realized Misty May Treanor met up with him. She was actually standing out there most of the time and we did not know it was her. So I got him and her on a ball for you who may not know who Misty May Treanor is, she is a 3 time Gold medal winner in the olympics in women’s beach volleyball with here partner Kerry Walsh. That was just really cool that they signed for us. this is defiantly one of the most interesting baseballs in my collection.
That was it for this one the Rox go for the sweep of the dodgers on Wednesday afternoon. Go Rockies.
See You at Coors.
Also a Slight reminder The Rock Nation Crew is doing another used equipment drive this Saturday Sept. 1.

L.A. Dodgers Vs. Colorado Rockies
Coming directly from work I had sometime to kill before the gates opened at 4:30. I first headed down to the players entrance and not much was going on there. I than headed to the Rockpile entrance. It was about 45 minutes til the gate opened. After the gates opened I immediately ran up the steps and headed to the pavilions for BP. The Rockies were batting and not hitting much out. The Dodgers who usually have a good BP hit and about 6 baseballs were hit to the pavilions. So once again shut out on the day. I headed to the 1st base line and waited to dee who would sign and Jordan Pacheco and Tyler Colvin both signed did not get either to sign anything.
After warm up I stayed down the first baseline for first pitch.
Jeff Francis was the Rockies starting pitcher. He pitched very well. He pitched 5 scoreless innings. Letting up 4 hits 1 walk and striking out 6. He got himself out of the 5th inning after getting into trouble in the with one out and a runners on 2nd and 3rd got out of the inning striking out the next 2 batters.Beckett and Victorino.
Shane Victorino was the first batter Francis faced and he grounded out to Jonny Herrera. He threw to first for the first out of the game. Francis did let up one hit in the first and that was to Matt Kemp who was stranded after hitting a 2 out double.
Josh Beckett made his first start for the Dodgers since being traded from the Red Sox along with Adrian Gonzalez, Nick Punto and Carl Crawford for James Loney and 3 other players from the Dodgers organization. His first pitch to Tyler Colvin was a strike.
His second pitch was not as succesful, Colvin hit a home run to the second deck in right. He would than get the next 3 Rockies out in order including striking out Carlos Gonzalez and Wilin Rosario. Francis and Beckett both pitched well in the second. Francis allowed a base runner in the 3rd by walking Shan Victorino. The Rockies would have a bunch of base runners in the 3rd. Jonny Herrera would get on base aswell as Francis, Colvin and Pacheco none would score Herrera and Francis would both get out at second.
Herrera diving back to first while on base in the 3rd.
In the fourth inning I decided to head and visit some friends that were sitting down the third baseline. I did sit there the rest of the game. The Rockies did score a run after a Chris Nelson 2 out triple. He scored on a D.J. Lemahieu single. (2-0)The above photo is of is Don Mattingly taking Beckett out in the 6th inning. Nelson would score for the Rockies once again in the 6th. (3-0) Rockies.
D.J Lemahieu turns a double play hit by Matt Kemp to get out off the 8th.
Pacheco making the stretch to get Kemp at first.
The Rockies had a HUGE 8th inning. Charlie Blackmon who came in for Andrew Brown in right, Led off the inning flying out to left. Chris Nelson than hit a double he once again scored on a Lemahieu single. Nelson scored 3 times this game.
Matt Belise would attempt to contribute offensively by bunting but that just resulted into a strike out for the second out of the inning. That would not stop the Rockies from scoring 7 runs in the inning. They sent 11 batters to the plate. Tyler Colvin hit a triple to clear the bases and Wilin Rosario hit a home run scoring Cargo and himself. Cargo got on base after striking out swinging on a wild pitch.
Colvin making the turn from second heading to third for his triple.
Here he is reaching third.
Wilin taking a stroll around the bases after his Home run in the 8th. (10-0) Rox
The Rockies celebrate a big night at the plate. The bats were alive and Pitching was solid it was a great combination to shut down the Dodgers powerful line up. The Rockie used 4 pitches Francis starting, Josh Roenicke, Rex Brothers pitch in the 7th and continued for an out in the 8th and Matt Belise would close out the game pitching the end of the 8th and the 9th.
Way To go Rockies, this may be to little to late, but exciting baseball has returned to Coors. It is now being called Purple Magic by players. It has been a really good last few weeks for the Rockies at home and on the road. Hopefully this keeps going. They have 2 game remaining against the Dodgers this week.
They are 15 and 11 for the month of August.
That is it for this one.
See You At Coors!
Dodgers Vs Rockies
My 26th game of the year.
As usual the gates opened and the Pavilions where the place to be. Today the Rockies batting practice was a little light. The Dodgers did hit out a few. I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and really did not get close to anything. This batting practice was filled with the morality of fans and players. And showed the contrasts of people. It started off early when a Dodgers player threw a ball to a kid who had a glove, the ball tipped off and a lady picked up the ball and walked away. This wasn’t like in Texas where the lady caught the random tossed ball this was someone taking a ball that was intended for a kid and tipped by him. That is just wrong if a ball is thrown to a kid give it to them. That is not how we do it. Then after a few long balls were hit by the Dodgers a young fan was hit on the top of his head and was a hit pretty hard. The sound was something you don’t like hearing. The ball did pass threw a few gloves and then bonked him. Within seconds Dodgers relief pitcher and ex Rockie Jamey Wright hopped into the stands and ran to the kid. Before security and the paramedics got there. He stayed with the kid til they walked away to get him checked out. Jamey did not just show the companion players have for fans and the concern that many players have for fans, thiers or the other teams. He not only made sure that the person who got the ball gave it to the kid but he also took off the glove he was wearing on the field and gave it to him. That is a true professional and I fully give huge props to Jamey Wright. That was one of the most stand up thing I have seen a player ever do. This just shows how some people are so rude and have no respect for others and how another person can go beyond what is expected to do the Wright thing. No that is not a typo!!!! Back to the kid the lady stole the ball from one of the Coors field regulars caught a ball and gave it to him once again showing the humanity and thoughtfulness of people. For me I got shut out this BP.
Josh Outman Started for the Rockies. He pitched in the spot formally held by Jamie Moyer. Moyer was designated for assignment. Outman pitched well besides a hit by lead off batter Tony Gwynn Jr. and walking Matt Treanor in the second he struck out 4 before being taken out in the 4th. I don’t think it was a problem but he is just not use to pitching innings and was taken out because of pitch count.
With 2 outs Carlos Gonzalez hit a single.
He was then caught stealing at second.
The Rockies Got the offence going in the 2nd inning. Michael Cuddyer lead off with a single.
Michael Cuddyer sliding into second. He did score end up scoring the Rockies first run of the game.He and Wilin Rosario scored on an overthrow during D.J. LeMahieus at bat in the 2nd.
Wilin Rosario hops up after one of his graceful slides into home!! for the Rockies second run.(2-0) Rox.
The Dodgers scored one in the 4th scott Van Slyke Hit a 2 out double and scored on a Alex Castellanos triple. (2-1) Rox Michael Cuddyer scored after he lead off the 4th with a walk. (3-1) Rox
Tony Gwynn Jr. Dives back to first after his 5th inning walk.
Marco Scutaro makes a jumping catch and tried to tag Gwynn as he steals second in the 5th.
The Rockies played a little 2 out small ball in the bottom of the fifth Dex kicked it off with a single followed by Scutaro single. They picked up a run in the inning. (4-2) Rox
The Dodgers score 1 in the top of the 6th.
Helton started the 6th inning with his 663 double of his career. After Jordan Pacheco grounded out Wilin Rosario hit a 2 run HR.
Wilin pumps his fist as the ball leaves the field.
Wilin give Helton a High-Five after his trip around the bases. (6-2) Rox
Chris Capuano bounces the baseball as Don Mattingly talk to umpires about a double switch. Capuano pitched 6th and a third and was taken out with a 2-2 count on our relief pitcher Adam Ottavino.
Jamey Wright came in to pitch for Capuano. Even know he was a stand up guy in during BP the Rockies got the best of him Scoreing 2 more in the 7th and 3 on the 8th. He was responsible for 6 hits and 4 runs in his 1 and 2/3rd innings pitched.
Ball being caught at 2nd and the slide.
Scutaro steps on second and throws to first in the to Get Tony Gwynn Jr.
Dex walking off the field after being left on base in the 7th. I should change the blog Name To Following Fowler, feels like I am Talking a lot about him lately! He was 3 for 5 tonight with 2 RBI’s Is hitting over .600 this home stand and his average is now.294 Creeping up on .300. Go Get ’em DEX!!!!!
Creepy Once again!!!
Chris Nelson pinch-hitting in the 8th. This is the swing before his HR. I had taken every swing he took and missed the last one for the long ball. This one still works image it is about 30 seconds later and the ball is about 5 feet off the tip of the bat!! Ohh and he was pinch-hitting in the third spot for Cargo!
The Rockies WON this one 13-3. For their season high winning streak of 5 games what a home stand so far. I will be back at Coors This afternoon. For game 2 of the Series.
Tonights Pitching Match up Aaron Harrang for the Dodger’s and Juan Nicasio for the Rockies.
well I will be there. See Ya at Coors.
LA Dodgers Vs. Colorado Rockies
Salt River Fields At Talking Stick
This day like most started early. We headed down to Salt River Fields for some BP. We started on the Diamondbacks side for there Major League Batting Practice. Where I got 3 Bp baseballs 2 rollers and final my first catch of the year, for a total of three. Than Don, Dan and myself headed over to the Minor league fields also on the D’backs side for minor league BP and I got 10 more mostly rollers or pick ups and a few Easter eggs!
So we than headed over to the batting cages because the Rockies did a BP in there instead of on a field. So we just watched from above.
Here’s Todd Helton Challenging hitting Coach Carney Lansford to a fight clearly Todd got the Karate Chop ready and Carney looks read to slide a jab or they are just going over his swing of the bat! I like my version better
Nolan Arenado in the cage. This area of the complex always reminds me of a zoo.
Always remember don’t feed the Players!
Jason Giambi Taken some swings.
Johnny Herrera looks on as Ramon Hernandez. Take a swing.
Jordan Pacheco waits for his turn in the cage and the creative BNW for this post to show off the mad photo Skillz.
Casey Blake loosing up before hitting the cage. He has not been in-game this spring due to an injury.
So after hangin there for a while we headed into the stadium.
This is new guy Marco Scutaro who the Rox got from the Red Sox in the off-season.
He most likely will be at 2nd base. But there is depth at the position with Johnny Herrera and D.J LeMahieu. Who as I was writing this was sent to Minor League camp. But I think we may still see him in Coors soon.
Bench Coach Tom Runnels brings the starting line up to home-plate.
Rockies Jeremy Guthrie throws the first pitch to the Dodgers Dee Gordon
Guthrie faced 4 batters in the inning only giving up a double to Andre Either.
Juan Uribe throws to first to get Marco Scutaro out at 1st. for the second out of the inning.
Adam Kennedy catches the Uribe throw.
Former Rockie Mark Ellis throwing to first to get Guthrie out in the 4th. The Dodgers scored one in the fourth when Tony Gwynn Jr. hit a single to get Eithier home. (1-0) Dodgers
the catch from Ellis’ throw.
Andrew Brown shaking Jim Tracy’s hand after hitting a HR in the 6th inning. 3-1 Rox
Willin Rossario legs out a single in the 6th.
Also in the 6th during I believe Rosario’s at bat I caught a foul ball and gave it to Mary O, who is an usher at Salt River Fields and Coors. It was her birthday. Happy Birthday Mary. It was the first game ball I got in a Major League game.
Parker Frazier pitching in the 7th inning.
The Rantics Showing some support for our Home Boy Tom Helmer. Dans 8-year-old daughter took this photo way to go good job.
During the Network not to be named pre game show we were shout to bring back Helmer and we want Helmer.
As you see in this picture I am wearing my St. Patty’s Day green hat. Which this guy stole from me for a few minutes before the game.
The Rockie mischievous mascot Dinger he could not get it on his head so he hung it on his nose.
Than the bee’s came and they evacuated the left center part of the berm.
Here is the mostly cleared berm from right field.
The Dodgers scored a run in the 8th inning the Rockies scored 2. (5-2) Rox
Rockies closer Rafael Betancourt came in for the 9th and got lit up by the Dodgers letting up 4 runs before the end of the inning.
Than in the 9th Tim Wheeler stepped to the plate with 2 outs and the game tied at 6 and launched a 2 run HR to the berm in right field for a Rockies walk off win. (8-6) the final. Right before this homer we were talking about how he is a clutch player and he proved the conversation right.
Once again thanks for checkin out the Rox addict blog.
We stil have about 5 games left at Spring training and I am still a game behind on posting so check back.
From Scottsdale I am the Rox Addict and I will see you around Phoenix.
La Dodgers Vs. Co. RockiesStarting Pitchers for this game were
Jason Hammel For the Rockies and Ted Lily for The Dodgers
Like always I got to the game early for BP for this game they gave out Rockies Cooler Bags Sponsored by Coors Light. So after I entered I headed out to the pavillions like always. I got 3 Bp balls, the 1st from the Rockies that landed 2 rows behind me, so I hopped the 2 rows and got it. The 2nd was hit high and 2 sections to my left so I scurried over and got the ball as it rolled down the section. The third landed jus short of me and i hooped the row again and got that one. It was hit By Juan Uribe. These balls were #17, 18 & 19 of the year at Coors. Not to forget the 10 I have also got in the Springs(Not Counted towards my MLB avg). Which is about .80 balls caught per game attended. .8260869565217391 per game!!!
This was my 3rd 3 ball game this season and 4th 3 ball game ever. I am feeling a 4 ball game soon(I Hope)!
So after BP Zack Hample signed my copy of “The Baseball….” Today he also got 3. 1 was his 400th of the year and he finished BP @ 5066 lifetime.
As Zach and I were talking Dodgers starter Ted Lilly was getting a little running in.
I then headed over to the first place line. Here are a few photo along the way. Jason Hammel getting a couple of long tosses in before heading to the bullpen.Jason Hammel and Chris Iannetta Heading into the bullpen. The Deuce, Ty Wiggington and Chris Nelson throwing during warm ups.The Bullpen staff as always heading out with the Rookie carrying the pink backpack. I think his is a Disney Princess backpack. The Rookie is Rex Brothers. Jason Hammel and Chris Iannetta Heading in from warming up in the bullpen. The Rockies taking the field fro the game.
In Photo: Charlie Blackmon, Eric Young Jr. and Carlos GonzalezEric Young Jr. Fielding a Andre Ethier single in the first. Beside this single the lead off batter Dee Gordon grounded out for the first out Jamie Carroll lined out to Chris Nelson and then this single by Ethier. Matt Kemp would then ground out. The Rockie half of the inning was almost the same. Cargo Grounded out, Young grounded out and Giambi hit a single before The Deuce poped out to third.
The Deuce looking at a pitch during his at bat in the 1st.
The Dodgers got another hit in the 2nd with no result. The Rockies came up in the 2nd with fire in the eyes of Ty Wiggington who hit a lead off HR. which would be the Rockies only run of the inning. 4 of Wiggy’s last 5 HR were solo shots. He has 6 with the Rockies this season. Besides a Chris Nelson single the HR was the only other hit in the inning. Eric Young Jr. Catches a long fly ball to right field hit by Dodgers catcher Rod Barajas “Hey Rod Barajas Remember that time you were a Met”!!!
The Next runs were nt score til the 5th inning when the Dodgers tied the score 1-1
Matt Kemp diving back to 1st in the 3rd inning after he hit a single. I believe Hammel threw to first 4 times during James Loney’s at bat.
Don Mattingly goes to the mound Lily got into trouble in the 6th inning. Charlie Blackmon hit off a single to lead of the inning. Iannetta would then walk Jonny Herrera would pinch hit for the pitcher spot. cargo then walked. The Dodgers brought in Blake Hawksworth who got them out of the inning. Herrera pinched hit for Matt Reynolds who was brought in after Jason Hammel left in the 6th with tightness in his lower back.
In the 6th inning the Dodgers would score 3 runs in the inning. making the score 4-1 Dodgers. They would also score 3 runs in the 7th on a bunch of hits and good fundemental baseball.
The rockies would make a game of it in the 8th Cargo lead off with a double young hit a single, Giambi would walk to load up the bases for the Deuce who also hit a single scoring Cargo and Eric Young Jr. 7-3 Dodgers. A Wiggington would then fly out to center and Seth Smith hit a 1 run pinch hit triple to score Giambi and The Deuce. 7-5 Dodgers. Blackman then hit a single scoring Smith and the Rockies would Come within 1 run of the Dodgers 7-6 at the end of the inning.
The Deuce Running to first after hitting his single in the 8th, that scored Cargo and EYJ.
The Dodgers responded in a big way in the bottom of the 9th scoring 4 more runs making the score 11-6. Once again proving that fundemental baseball works for scoring runs. This latly has been a important thing that the Rockies have been having trouble with this last few weeks. When they do play for the hit instead of the long ball the Rockies score runs when they fall behind and start over swinging they become very unproductive.
The Rockies Would Score a single run in the 9th with 2 outs. After Cargo lead off with a double he was called out after Eric Young Jr. hit a very hard ball back to the Dodgers pitcher and Cargo was doubled up after running off 1st. If it got past the pitcher he most likely would of scored. Giambi would then hit a single and would score on Wiggington 1b. Nelson would then walk and Blackman would hit a fly to Tony Gwynn Jr. that he made a fantastic catch for the final out.
The Rockies finished this four game series sunday afternoon See You There!!!!
Once again thanks to the undisclosed person who lets me sit down low to get some of these photo’s.

Behind the Rockies Dugout during the National Anthem
Jason Hammel and Chris Iannetta heading to the field
Rockies taking the field for the last game of this homestand
Jason Hammel throwing first pitch to the Dodgers Rafael Furcal. Furcal would get out, then Casey Blake hit a single and Andre Either would hit into a 3,6,3 double play a unconventional DP but executed perfectly by Helton and the Deuce.
The Rockies had a very aggresive first inning dispite Fowlers groundout to Dodgers first baseman James Loney.
Seth Smith was batting second this game
in this photo he takes a pitch for a ball, But a few pitches later he rips one to the outfield for a double.
Smith rounding first and heading for second. Cargo hit a Double of his own scoreing Smith for the first run of the game. After The Deuce popped out to short, Helton walked and Lopez hit in Cargo from second this brought the Rox up 2-0. Lopez has been a great addition to the team so far batting .364 at this point with a homerun. We will miss Barmes but I think this may pan out for the best.
Cargo taking a pitch for a strike
Seth Smith scoring the Rox first run after the Cargo Double.
Jose Lopez during his at bat in the 1st inning.
The Dodgers Matt Kemp lead off the second inning with that very Familiar 6,3 groundout. Followed by a James Loney solo Homerun that was hit one section to the left from where I was standing. After Uribe and Paul both GO I headed up to my seat in 307.
The Rox second started with a Chris Iannetta walk followed by a Jason Hammel Sac Bunt.
The inning ended by a Smith and Fowler each striking out.
The Dodgers would score 3 runs in starting off with a Rod Barajas HR which was caught by Dan. Nice Catch! Hey Rod Barajas remember that time you were a Met!!! Then got 2 more on a few walks and hits. Hammel had his notorious bad inning but got out of it a lot better then in the past the Dodgers were up 4-2 and then the Rox came up for the bottom half of the 3rd.
With Cargo leading off with a walk and a Tulo’s first hit that was not a HR Todd Helton stepped to the plate he hit a 3 run HR. that bounce off the top of the auxilary scoreboard in rightfield. Scoring 3 runs and the Rox taking the lead back from the Dodgers 5-4 Rockies.
Fans reacting to the Helton Homer as it bounces past them. You can see the ball over the first row third seat in.
After Hammel faced 4 batters in the forth the Rox came up and scored 2 more in the bottom of the 4th. On the Deuces third homer of the season and third consecutive game with a HR. 7-4 Rox.
The rest of the game was somewhat uneventful with only the Dodgers scoring 1 in the 8th. Hammel pitched 5 letting up 6hits, 4 runs, 2 homers, walking 3 and striking out 2.
Morales came in for the 6th and 7th. Facing 7 batters striking out 2 in the 2 innings. Lindstrom pitched the 8th letting up a DB to Kemp who later came around to score. 7-5 Rox which would end up being the final score.
Street closed the game in the ninth, letting up 2 basehits to Barajas and Carrol. He then retired Furcal with a flyout to left and ended the game with 2 incredible strike outs. First to Dodgers pinch hitter Gimenez and then Either for the final out of the game.
Huston Street strikes outs Andre Either for the final out of the game.
Rockies win 7-5 and are now 4-1 on the season. After this game they headed to Pittsburgh. The first game they won, The Deuce hit another HR in that game. Making it 5-1 on the season then friday night the played a 14 inning marathon which they lost. 5-2 on the season and one of the best starts for the Rox in their history. As I am writing this the Rox are 6-2 on the season after yesterdays win against the Pirates.
On Wenesday during Batting Practice I finally got my first ball of the year at Coors a bouncer of the track hit by the Rockies. Then went on to catch to clean on the fly off the Dodgers. making it three balls for the year. This was only the second time I got 3 and also only the second time I got balls from both the Rockies and the visiting team.
My take on the day the top 2 were from the Dogers the bottom was the first of the year from the Rox.
Thanks for taking a look. Go Rockies. I am the Rox Addict and I will see you at Coors on Friday when the Rockies take on the Chicago Cubs.
Now for the creative shot of the game to show off my made photo skillzs!!!!
and for the first time not in BNW “Roberts Glove”
Rox: Jhoulys Chacin
Dodgers: Clayton Kershaw
After a shutout BP where I still have not caught a ball making me 0-3 games this season which is a slight slumb when snagin’. We then headed over to the 1st base line to see if we could get a auto or 2. I only got a Ryan Spilbourghs on a Ticket stub from a game last year that he Cargo and Seth Smith hit Back to Back to Back Homers against the Diamondbacks on May 27th.
The L.A. Dodgers and Rockies this is the new LCD board under the Mountain Ranch Club.
Jhoulys Chacin heading to the Bullpen for his start.
The Deuce stretching before the game
The Rockies during the National Anthem
Spilli signing autographs before the game.
Today I sat in section 153 with Gary and Lil’ X
Here’s the Rockies taking the field against the Dodgers.
Jhoulys throwing the first pitch to the Dodgers Rafael Furcal. furcal would go 0-4 this game grounding out at each at bat. Chacin pitched a really good game letting up 5 hits, striking out 3 holding the Dodgers to no runs in 7 innings. 2 of the strike outs were in the4th against Uribe and Barajas.
Now normaly I would not post so many photos of one play but this is a double play in the second inning. The ball was hit by Uribe to Wiggington at third Lopez gets Loney out at second throws to Helton to get Uribe incredible play.
Hey Rod Barajas, Remember that time you were a Met!!
Rod Barajas as a catcher for the Mets Last April
In the 4th someone finally got a hit ! After going 0-9 He hit a big one for a Homerun.
The Deuce Troy Tulowitzki rounding the bases after his 4th inning homerun. Which raised his batting avg. to .100 Whoooo Hoooo.
The 4th inning Homerun by the Deuce was the first run of the game. The Rox also scored a run in the 5th when Chris Iannetta also hit a solo Homerun. Then they went on to score in the 6th. With Dex hitting a lead off 2b, he later scored on a Lopez single. making the score 3-0 Rockies. the Rockies after this game are now 2-1 for the 2011 season Jhoulys got the win and Street jith the save.
Huston Street pitching to the last batter of the game in the 9th inning. Much better pitching performance from Street this game 3up 3 down and he did it in under 15 pitches. Way to go Huston !
Like usually we headed over to the Root Sports post game desk to celabrate the victory.
Tom Helmer, The Cowboy Tracy Ringolsby and George Frazier at the post game desk.
Once again great night hangin with the Rantics @ Coors.
See you at Coors.
Thanks to everyone who checked out the 5 additions of this post that were posted incomplete with out my knowing.
I started the day off at Maryvalle Ballpark. It was a game between the Brewers and the Texas Rangers. Maryvalle ballpark is home of the Milwaukee Brewers. This day the Rockies were scheduled to play the Giants at Scottsdale Stadium, but we chose to head to Maryvalle Ball Park it was Hank Aaron Bobble head day. So we got to the stadium early and the weather was overcast.
So we headed over to the Minor League Fields. The Brewers Triple A and double A teams were playing against the Reds Minor League Teams. So as we were watching players warming up. We noticed a large amount of the Japanese Press standing around waiting for someone, then a cart pulled up with this player.
He is Takashi Saito he is a pitcher for the Brewers. Takashi played 13 years in Japan before coming to the USA in 2005. He has played for the Red Sox, Braves and now the Brewers.
Minor League Catcher reaches for a ball outside during warm ups in the bullpen.
Players Heading to the field
A look into the Reds Dugout. Most of these players are from their Minor league team in Louisville Bats. Also their Double a Team The Carolina Mudcats Located outside of Raliegh,N.C.
Here is the BNW to show off my mad photo skillz. Bat end in fence.
Player operating radar gun behind home plate.
Takashi Saito Pitching in the 4th inning of the game for the Brewers. The Brewers Minor League affiliates are the Triple A Nashville Sound and Double A Huntsville Stars. At this time there are to games going on adjacent fields. After this I headed over to the neighboring field for a few photos.
Runner tries to stop between 2nd and 3rd base.
This is the runner rounding third as the ball was hit to the outfield on the next pitch. So after about an hour watching ball on the back fields it was time to head over to get in line for the Major League game.
Nothing screams Brewers baseball like empty cases of Miller Beer.
Another BNW to Show …. Ahhhh nevermind!!!!!
Handing out the Hank Aaron Bobble Heads inside the gates.
A look from Right field of Maryvalle Stadium. When we got into the stadium the Brewers were taking batting practice so the game was looking very promising. So there was only about 5 min. of batting practice before they wrapped it up and only one ball was hit to the berm and who got it but………
Robert the ball that pretty much landed at his feet on the berm. I thought I had a better chance at catching some baseballs this day since he forgot his glove and I had mine well that did not matter. Now I know the ball magnet is not in his glove!!!
Well after about an hour of rain the game was called off. It was cool talking to a few Rockies fans that were at this game also. So the tix for this game will be good for any Spring Training game for the next 2 years so I got a ticket for a future game. After this game we were suppose to head to Peoria for a Mariners game but figured it would also be rained out. So we figured we would head over to Salt River Fields to see of anything was going on there. We knew their was a game that night but wasn’t sure if it was going to be played. After we figured that the game was going to be played we headed into the Stadium for the game between the Diamondbacks and Dodgers.
A look at the sunset at SRF Before the game.
LA Dodgers outfielder Andre Either signing autographs.
D’Backs Pitcher Ian Kennedy throws first pitch to Dodgers SS Gordon.
Another look at Ian Kennedy throwing a pitch.
Andre Either in the on deck circle before his at bat in the 1st. inning
After the first inning I took notice of a very familiar man sitting 10 rows in front of me. So I asked the usher if that is……
….and she answered yes that is Tommy Lasorda.
Dodgers SS makes play at second on D’Backs player Stephen Drew.
So after the third inning we were allowed to go down for autographs. This is Tommy Lasorda signing an autograph for Robert. Then he signed a ball for me as well.
After about another half inning or so he left.
The next photo I really like it is of The Dodger SS making a play in the 2nd inning.
The play ended up being an era as he hit the ground before the throw was made to first.
Clayton Kershaw pitching with runner on 2nd.
Chris Young crosses plate for the D’backs 1st run of the game of a Miranda 1B.
Ex Rockies Utility man Melvin Mora at bat in the 4th inning.
Andre Ether at bat in the 6th inning.
This is him being thrown out at first base.
Kids sliding down the wet grass of the berm.
The final score of the game was the Diamond backs 3 LA Dodgers 0. It was a fun game to watch. It was a fun game to watch not really caring who won or lost and best of all and an event that made the trip well worth it I MET TOMMY LASORDA!!!!!
