Dodgers vs. Rockies
Andres Galarraga Bobble Head day
Like usual we arrived at the stadium really early to get on line for the bobble heads and autograph. Not as much for the bobble heads but to have good positioning in line for autographs. Like always a few minutes before the gates opened they let you know who or who may be signing. I got a text from someone at the stadium saying that the Big Cat may be signing. This would of been great since none of the other players who have had bobble heads have signed on there bobble head day. After we got in we found out that he was not signing and the signers were D.J. LeMahieu,Eric Young Jr., Edgmer Escolona and rob Scahill. So that was great I needed D.J. on my team project and had a photo for Escolona so I had mom take 16×20 to D.J. and I got on Edgmers line which was also the line that was rumored to be where Andres Galarraga would be signing if he did. Which gave me the versatility I would need if it was him. So I got Edgmer to sign a print of a photo I had either taken this year or last in spring training.
As we waited for the signers to come out which is over a half hour I have been taking out the bobble heads and taking a photo of them on the wall with the field behind them. As I took it out of the box I noticed the bat was missing so I asked the usher working the line if I could go get a new one and she let me so I headed back to the gate and they immediately helped me and handed me a new one. So that is the one in the photo.
Eric Young Jr’s line
D.J. LeMahieu taking a ball to sign.
Always get a smile from EYJ when he signs for you!
After autographs were done we noticed lights set up in front of the Rockies dugout and it was for a photo that Andres Galarraga would take with on the Venezuelan players on the Rockies current roster. The players in the photo were Carlos Gonzalez, Edgmer Escolona, Jonny Herrera, Jhoulys Chacin and Rafael Betancourt.
Here is what it looked like! This photo is courtesy of the Colorado Rockies twitter @Rockies. An a very rare photo not taken by me on this blog!
Here is Jonny Herrera signing autographs. That is actually my photo he is signing, Thanks to John for running it over to him for me. It was a pretty good day for autographs I got Edgmer, Jonny and Tyler Chatwood each on an 8×10 and D.J. on my team 16×20. Tyler stopped and signed after the pitchers warmed up while we were on line for the autograph Sunday autographs.
Michael Cuddyer during the National Anthem. I have taken it before but it is always a favorite of mine with the flag his stance and attention to the color guard.
Andres Galarraga waving as he is announce to throw out the first pitch.
Here he is throwing the pitch did really well from the mound.
He throw to fellow Venezuelan Carlos Gonzalez.
Here is Jorge De La Rosa taking the mound before his start.
Jorge throwing the first pitch of the game to the Dodgers Nick Punto.
here is a look at Cargo in left field. with the Vote for CarGo sign in the background.
Jonny Herrera at Short giving the base coverage sign to D.J. LeMahieu at second base.
Dexter Fowler wasted no time to keep his momentum rolling from Saturday nights walk off. With this first pitch home run that Andre Either could only watch as it hit the second fence in the Rockies bull pen. So in 2 at bats and only 2 pitches Dexter has won a game and took the lead in a second game. Not bad Don’t forget to vote for Dex when filling out those All-Start ballots. The Rockies scored a second run also, D.J. LeMahieu walked stole second advanced to third on a throwing error and scored on a Michael Cuddyer sac fly to center field. 2-0 Rockies
The Dodgers did not let the Rockies to hold the lead for long they scored 2 of there own in the 2nd. inning. Andre Either singled to get on base and so did Luis Cruz. They would both score on this Skip Shumaker double that he tried to stretch into a triple and was tagged out by Nolan Arenado. That is just a case of no one read the scouting report that said Cargo has an above average arm and running to third is stupid if the ball is in left field. I think the squirrel that was on his baseball card a few years ago know that! Well he got 2 RBI’s I guess the out is kinda irrelevant.
Todd helton showed that he still had his bat in the 4th when the next run of the game was scored on his lead off home run. Here he is crossing the plate and slapping Arenado five after the homer. This run gave the Rockies a 3-2 lead. The Rockies went on to score an additional run in the inning Herrera scored after being walked on a LeMahieu single. (4-0) Rockies
Matt Magil pitching in the 4th inning. he remained in the game through the 6th inning which meant another Rockies run in the 5th and 6th. In the 5th it was a homerun to Michael Cuddyer with Jorge on base and in the 6th it was Dexter Fowlers second home run of the game also a lead off home run.
Adam Ottavino came in to pitch the 8th and 9th innings for the Rockies. Jorge pitched a very good 7 innings, he let up only 2 runs, 6 hits, walking 2 and striking out 5. He also threw 94 pitches in 7 innings which is very good. Ottavino finished the game with out letting a Dodger on base. He said take that Dodgers for leaving Brooklyn! he struck out 4 and I think he should be called Brookkkklyn!
After Magil was taken out Matt Guerier pitched the 7th for the Dodgers and Peter Moylan pitched the 8th.
The Baby Bull and Brookkkklyn with the fist bump after the 7-2 win in this one and the 2nd win taking the series from the Dodgers.
With Dexter’s 2 home runs he was the player of the game.
remember to Vote for dex and all the Rockies for the All-Star game. Here is a link you can vote up to 25 times online a day!
The only thing that would of made this game better would have been Tom Helmer jumping on the desk for the post game show! Once again with Joel leaving roots sports we are trying to bring back Helmer if you agree let roots sports know that you want him back. Either on Facebook, twitter or there website.
Bring Back Helmer.
That is it for this series and home stand the Rockies return after a short road trip to play the Reds on Thursday.
See You at Coors!
Dodgers vs. Rockies.
My 48th game at Coors this year!
This day started early once again I headed to lodo about 2 hours before gate to hang with the Ranter. We headed towards Jacksons for a few drinks before heading in for BP. After heading in we immediately headed the pavilions. Within a few minutes I got the first ball hit out by the Rockies. it hit about 2 rows behind me and bounced back. This was my 19th ball of the year in MLB ballparks counting te 1 from Atlanta. Not very good numbers for the amount of games attended. I should have had another but I was going into my bag for something when it was hit about 6 feet to my left. During the end of BP I had given up on catching baseballs and headed towards the Dodgers dugout. I was trying to get a Jaime Wright photo signed. I did not get him but did get a Clayton Kershaw on a Dodger stadium 50 Anniversary ball. unfortunately he signed it on the Rawlings Logo side in marker. After that I headed over to the Rockies side and got a Tyler Colvin card signed and a Josh Ruttledge card signed. Jordan Pacheco also signed as always. Thanks guys for being so cool to the fans continually.
Tyler Chatwood was the Starter for the Rockies this game here he is with “The Baby Bull” Wilin Rosario heading to the dugout from the bullpen.
Tyler Chatwood throwing the first pitch to the Dodgers Mark Ellis. Mark Ellis would reach base on a strike out passed ball. He would get out on second on a Shane Victorino hit to second.
Mark Ellis takes a pitch inside during his at bat. In the inning Victorino would steal second Matt Kemp would be walked and Adrian Gonzalez would hit into a double play.
Mark Ellis throwing to first base to get Tyler Colvin out in the first.
Chris Capuano started for the Dodgers. Here he is throwing to Josh Ruttledge. Josh Rutledge would hit a shot deep to left center.
Matt Kemp watch out for the wall!!!
The ball which it looks like he did catch the ball but it popped out of his glove. Shane Victorino came to make the play from left.
Kemp stayed down for a few minutes.
Josh Ruttledge made it to third on the play.
Don Mattinly and the Dodgers training staff immediately ran to the out field as well as the Coors Field security staff.
after a few minutes he stood up appeared to be O.K. and remained in the game.
Jordan Pacheco would than hit a ball to shallow left field.
Matt Kemp as a true professional than dove for the ball.
He missed it after the first hit I think he should have went for the one in the middle but guess he did not get the ball. Ruttledge would score and Pacheco would get to second.
Andre Either runs after this one.
Pacheco slides into second. Rosario would hit a single and score Pacheco from second. (2-0) Rockies
matt Kemp would than start walking off the field. The Dodgers trainer would head out and walk in with him.
Wilin Rosario jumps back to first.
Andrew Brown would hit a double scoring Rosario. (3-0) Rox The Rockies would score a fourth run when D.J. Le Mahieu also hit a double and Brown scored. (4-0) Rox.
The Dodgers would score a run in the second. (4-1) Rox
Rosario hit home run #22 in the 3rd. He is 3 away from the Rockies Rookie HR record set by Todd Helton in his Rookie season. (5-1) Rox
The Dodgers scored a second run in the 4th. (5-2) Rox The Rockies got an additional run in the 4th. (6-2) Rox
Jaime Wright pitching to the Rockies Wilin Rosario in the 7th inning with Pacheco on first and Rutledge on third. He would get out of the inning allowing 2 runs. (8-2) Rox.
Wilin Rosario returns to first after his 7th inning hit and Pacheco being called safe at third. This hit also scored Rutledge for one of the 2 Rockies runs.
Don Mattingly would argue the call at third.
Chris nelson goes for the third out in the 9th a pop out to the third base seats.
he missed it and went for a ride on the tarp!
Luis Cruz who pinched hit and struck out to end the game.
The Rockies win 8-4 to win the second game of this 3 game series against the Dodgers.
immediately after the game we headed towards the Rockies dugout to get a Adam Ottavino auto Amy needed him on a ball and I had printed a photo of him to sign he stopped and he signed for us. we than headed out side of the stadium and waited for players to come out and I got Clayton Kershaw to sign a card which he personalized and I also got a really cool auto when Matt Treanor came out and we realized Misty May Treanor met up with him. She was actually standing out there most of the time and we did not know it was her. So I got him and her on a ball for you who may not know who Misty May Treanor is, she is a 3 time Gold medal winner in the olympics in women’s beach volleyball with here partner Kerry Walsh. That was just really cool that they signed for us. this is defiantly one of the most interesting baseballs in my collection.
That was it for this one the Rox go for the sweep of the dodgers on Wednesday afternoon. Go Rockies.
See You at Coors.

LA Dodgers Vs. Colorado Rockies
Salt River Fields At Talking Stick
This day like most started early. We headed down to Salt River Fields for some BP. We started on the Diamondbacks side for there Major League Batting Practice. Where I got 3 Bp baseballs 2 rollers and final my first catch of the year, for a total of three. Than Don, Dan and myself headed over to the Minor league fields also on the D’backs side for minor league BP and I got 10 more mostly rollers or pick ups and a few Easter eggs!
So we than headed over to the batting cages because the Rockies did a BP in there instead of on a field. So we just watched from above.
Here’s Todd Helton Challenging hitting Coach Carney Lansford to a fight clearly Todd got the Karate Chop ready and Carney looks read to slide a jab or they are just going over his swing of the bat! I like my version better
Nolan Arenado in the cage. This area of the complex always reminds me of a zoo.
Always remember don’t feed the Players!
Jason Giambi Taken some swings.
Johnny Herrera looks on as Ramon Hernandez. Take a swing.
Jordan Pacheco waits for his turn in the cage and the creative BNW for this post to show off the mad photo Skillz.
Casey Blake loosing up before hitting the cage. He has not been in-game this spring due to an injury.
So after hangin there for a while we headed into the stadium.
This is new guy Marco Scutaro who the Rox got from the Red Sox in the off-season.
He most likely will be at 2nd base. But there is depth at the position with Johnny Herrera and D.J LeMahieu. Who as I was writing this was sent to Minor League camp. But I think we may still see him in Coors soon.
Bench Coach Tom Runnels brings the starting line up to home-plate.
Rockies Jeremy Guthrie throws the first pitch to the Dodgers Dee Gordon
Guthrie faced 4 batters in the inning only giving up a double to Andre Either.
Juan Uribe throws to first to get Marco Scutaro out at 1st. for the second out of the inning.
Adam Kennedy catches the Uribe throw.
Former Rockie Mark Ellis throwing to first to get Guthrie out in the 4th. The Dodgers scored one in the fourth when Tony Gwynn Jr. hit a single to get Eithier home. (1-0) Dodgers
the catch from Ellis’ throw.
Andrew Brown shaking Jim Tracy’s hand after hitting a HR in the 6th inning. 3-1 Rox
Willin Rossario legs out a single in the 6th.
Also in the 6th during I believe Rosario’s at bat I caught a foul ball and gave it to Mary O, who is an usher at Salt River Fields and Coors. It was her birthday. Happy Birthday Mary. It was the first game ball I got in a Major League game.
Parker Frazier pitching in the 7th inning.
The Rantics Showing some support for our Home Boy Tom Helmer. Dans 8-year-old daughter took this photo way to go good job.
During the Network not to be named pre game show we were shout to bring back Helmer and we want Helmer.
As you see in this picture I am wearing my St. Patty’s Day green hat. Which this guy stole from me for a few minutes before the game.
The Rockie mischievous mascot Dinger he could not get it on his head so he hung it on his nose.
Than the bee’s came and they evacuated the left center part of the berm.
Here is the mostly cleared berm from right field.
The Dodgers scored a run in the 8th inning the Rockies scored 2. (5-2) Rox
Rockies closer Rafael Betancourt came in for the 9th and got lit up by the Dodgers letting up 4 runs before the end of the inning.
Than in the 9th Tim Wheeler stepped to the plate with 2 outs and the game tied at 6 and launched a 2 run HR to the berm in right field for a Rockies walk off win. (8-6) the final. Right before this homer we were talking about how he is a clutch player and he proved the conversation right.
Once again thanks for checkin out the Rox addict blog.
We stil have about 5 games left at Spring training and I am still a game behind on posting so check back.
From Scottsdale I am the Rox Addict and I will see you around Phoenix.
Washington Nationals Vs. Rockies
The Rockies have lost 16 sunday games in a row this streak goes back to April 17.
Going into this Sunday it was only 15 Sundays in a row.
This Sunday like every sunday home game at Coors was autograph Sunday today. Ryan Spilbourghs, Eliezer Alfonso, Jason Hammel and Charlie Blackmon signed. I first went to Spilbourghs line and had him sign a baseball Card, then headed to Hammels line sign a 2011 Topps card. I had Alfonso sign my mini helmet that I have been getting signed by players I don’t have anything else to sign. So far I have 9 autos on it.
After the official autograph session was over I headed over to the right field wall where Rex Brothers was signing. I had him sign a Sky Sox program I got last month. He thought it was cool and had not seen it yet. Since I have a few copies I told him I would bring him a copy.
Esmil Roger also signed and he signed 2 cards for me.
The players then went in and I wandered around the stadium giving a few and “X” and I gave the extra Cargo figurines we got to the deserving friends at Coors. You know who you are and thanks for everything you guys do for us.
The players then came out for warm ups. This is a photo of Nations starter John Lannon heading to the dugout with catcher Jesus Flores. You may be asking where Ivan Rodriguez is, he is on the DL with an oblique strain.
Aaron Cook leads the Rockies to the field for the start of the game.
Aaron Cook Throwing the first pitch to the Nationals Rick Ankiel who he would walk. Cook is 2-6 this season, going into this game.
The next three Nationals batters would get out. Including Ryan Zimmerman striking out.
The Rockies would send five to the plate in the 1st. Eric Young Jr. Grounded out, Dexter Fowler walked. Carlos Gonzalez flew out The Deuce hit a single and Wiggington grounded out to end the inning.
The Nationals would score in the 2nd on a Jonny Gomes HR after Jayson Werth walked to lead off the inning. (2-0) Nationals.
Gomes and Werth Hi Five after Gomes’ 2nd inning HR.
The Rockies did not score in the second Cook would pitch real well in the 3rd only letting up a run to Ryan Zimmerman.
Eric Young Jr. would lead off the 3rd inning for the Rockies with a bunt.
He would then get doubled up on a Fowler hit to the Nationals shortstop Ian Desmond.
Aaron cook would pitch into the 7th inning. He pitched very well this game unfortunately did not get the run support. Cook threw 79 pitches, Struck out 5 Nationals and let up 2 runs Matt Reynolds came in to the game and completed the inning striking out Ankiel.
Aaron Cook heading to the dugout in the 7th inning.
The Nationals would take out there starter Lannon also in the 7th.
The Rockies would finally get some runs in the 7th. Herrera would pitch hit in the pitchers spot and later score on a Young single. Young would score the second run to tie the game at 2.
Herrera score the Rockies first run in the 7th.
Eric Young Jr. scoring the tieing run.(2-2)
The Nationals would score the go ahead run in the 8th. Danny Espinosa lead off the inning and scored the Nationals 3rd. run on a Werth single. That would be the final score 3-2. for the 16th Sunday loss of the season for the Rockies good thing they don’t play tradition Sunday double-header like they use to.
So that is it for this game this week heading to the Spring for Jason Giambi’s rehab and then the Rockies return against the Marlins on Monday.
Also Good news came that Juan Nicasio has been releast from the hospital.
