Diamondbacks Vs. Rockies
Game 3 of series and of the year!
This being a Sunday there was no bating practice so I still have not gotten a baseball this year! It was the first autograph Sunday of the year and the signers where Chad Bettis, Jordan Lyles, Tyler Chatwood and Charlie Culberson. I got Jordan Lyle on both of my team projects the 16 x 20 and the Spring training magazine. Later at the wall I got Chad Bettis in the magazine as well. So making some progress with the 2 projects.
Today Brett Anderson started for the Rockies this was his second start of the season and first at Coors.
He started out well getting the first 2 batters out in the inning he threw 3 pitches between them. Then Paul Goldschmidt hit a single followed by a Martn Prado double, Mark Trumbo was walked to load the bases and Anderson struck out Miguel Montero to end the inning and work himself out of the situation.
The above photo was the first out of the inning A.J. Pollack grounded out to Arenado who tossed to Cuddy at first.
Wade Miley was the starting pitcher for the Diamondbacks.
Charley (Chuck Nasty) Blackmon started the game off like he has all weekend and that was with a single that he was originally called out and Walt went for the challenge in the first at bat of the game.
Blackmon standing on 1st as the play is reviewed by umpires. The call was overturned and was ruled a single. That was the first review of a play in Coors Field.
He would then be out at second when Michael Cuddyer hit to the D’backs short stop Chris Owings.
The D’backs started getting some runs in the third inning. A.J Pollach started the rally with a lead off single and that was followed by a Aaron Hill single and both scored on a Paul Goldschmidt hit to third that was and error on Arenado and the ball headed to left field. Goldschmidt ended up on second. (2-0) D’backs
The D’backs scored 1 more in the 4th when Wade Miley contributed with a single scoring Owings and 2 in the 5th on a Mark Trumbo home run. This was his 4th consecutive game hitting a homer and his 5th of the year.
The Rockies scored again in the 7th, scored by Troy Tulowitzki on a Nolan Arenado sac-fly to center. They got a third in the 9th (5-3) D’backs
Cargo scored the run. Above he stole second and the ball headed into center field and he would head to third and scored when Rosario would hit into a double play getting Tulo out at second and himself at first. After Arenado flew out the game ended and the 3 runs was not enough to sweep the Diamondbacks this Opening Weekend.
The Rockies will have their first interleague series of the year against the White Sox Monday-Wednesday.
See You at Coors!
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Colorado Rockies
My 7th game of the season.
The Starting pitchers were Jhoulys Chacin vs. Ian Kennedy
Here is a photo during the National Anthem. It seems rare that all 7 starters are out there at the same time, so had to take this. Most of the guys are already done warming up before the Anthem starts and are usually already by the dugout.
Jhoulys Chacin started for the Rockies tonight in what started off a pitchers duel. Ian Kennedy was hitless Chacin Let up a single to Gerrado Parra but got out of the inning with a double play ball hit by Paul Goldschmidt. The first base runner for Kennedy was a walk to Josh Ruthledge in the 4th.
Kennedy struck out 5 Rockies in the first 4 innings including Dexter Fowler and Carlos Gonzalez in the 1st. Michael Cuddyer and Helton in the 2nd and Chris Nelson in the 3rd.
Ian Kennedy Pitching in the first inning.
Before the Game Amy Blake Street Babe / Take from Blake was chosen for one of the promotions it was the Topps match game. She won and got a prize bag with 2 T-Shirts, a hat and 2 packs of Topps baseball cards.
Rene Lacheman giving what we have named the spiel this in it self is worth the price of admission. If you have a child and sit down the first baseline he may come over and give them a ball. I have seen him do this at the Springs and now it is awesome to see it on a daily bases at Coors this year. He is a very interesting baseball guy loaded with stories of his 50 years in the game of baseball. When we see him we always ask if he has time for one, they are that good. I had mentioned 1 or 2 here before during the Rockies Hot Stove meetings in January.
During the inning we did some visiting out in right field. I like sitting out here. The last time I did sit in this area was for a 2009 playoff game against the Phillies. Here is a look at Chacin pitching to Paul Goldschmidt.
After the Rutledge walk in the 4th inning and Cargo strike out. Kennedy’s 6th of the game. Troy Mister not so clutch came to the plate so as usual we were figuring out how he would end the inning. Who had a pop up to third or such things. He ended up proving us wrong by hitting a 2 run home run to give the Rockies the lead this was his 5th of the year and so far the one that mattered the most. As much of a critic I am of his I like when he proves me wrong. I think he actually yelled who’s clutch now Rox Addict as he ran the base’s. But this is not confirmed! The Rockies took the lead 2-0.
Michael Cuddyer slides into second base for a double in the 4th. He left on base but he got to second on nothing but hustle, which tends to cause the other tea to commit errors. This happens because of rushed throws or because players are out of position for the unexpected attempt. Great to see him play this way.
Chris Nelson who is so earning his place at third base leads the 5th inning off with a triple. He has made a few mistakes but also a bunch of great plays at the hot corner and contribute well at the plate.
Chacin contributes to the effort with a sac fly to center scoring Nelson. (3-1)
Chacin was taken out of the game in the game in the 7th inning after a pitch. He said he had tightness on his side after a pitch. They did give him Ice treatment and eletrostimulation (or what ever it is called, that’s why I am not Dr. Rox Addict) that night and he was feeling better the next night when I saw him but was placed on the 15 day disabled list, Which sucks because he has been pitching real well and had a injury prone season last year.
Wilton Lopez came into the game to pitch for the Rockies after Chacins injury. Lopez pitched well this inning striking out Cody Ross and A.J. Pollack. This was probably his best performance with the Rockies.
Here is one of those mistakes from Chris Nelson it was a throwing error to Todd Helton at first. It did cost the Rockies a run making the score 3-1, But did not make much of a difference. Parra scored for the Diamond backs on the play from second which he got to on defensive indifference after hitting a lead off single.
This was the Rockies first win of this series 4th of this home stand and 12th win of the season. This is the best start by the Rockies in there history.
Well that is it for this one I am a few game behind in getting post done do to trying to get autographs and finish my team 16×20 which only needs about 9 players on it as I am writing this. Well that is it for this one I have 2 more from the Rockies series coming up and I will be at Coors for all 3 against the Braves weather permitting and I will probably be there if it doesn’t permit anyway! Love sitting in weather delays. I think that is why I really go to so many games!!!!
O.K. see you at Coors!!!

Mets vs. Rockies Game 3
My 6th game at Coors this year.
When I entered the stadium the score board temp said 25 degrees. It was 11 degrees colder than the first game of the double-header, but felt a lot warmer because the sun was out.
I thought maybe since there has been no batting practice all week they may take it even know it was a day game. Not what happened there was no batting practice. So I waited for the rest of the stadium to open and headed over to the first base side of the field figured just hang by the wall and see if I could get any autographs. Vinnie Castilla stopped and signed few but I was not ready and did not get him to sign anything. Jordan Pacheco came over and I gave him a copy of a photo I had printed from last year and he did sign a different photo I had printed.
This is the photo I gave him.
The field was warming up in the sun and the temps were still in the upper 20’s here is steam coming off the infield dirt.
Jon Garland who came into the game with a 1-0 record was the starting pitcher for the Rockies here he is with “Baby Bull” Wilin Rosario.
Garland throwing a pitch in the 1st inning. I missed the first pitch because Tom Goodwin was in my way but after someone I was sitting with asked if he could take a step to his left he did. He was actually very fun for the 3 games as the Mets first base coach interacting and talking to the fans. He was an ex Rockie, he played for them in 2000. He played for 13 years and was with 7 teams including The Rangers, Dodgers and Cubs. He also played for the Atlantic City Surf an Independent league team in the Atlantic League the same League that the Long Island Ducks play in.
So Garland was pitching to the Mets Jordany Valdespin. Valdespin grounded out on a bunt attempt back to Garland. Daniel Murphy singled and scored on a David Wright single. The Mets took a quick 1-0 lead.
Josh and Tulo could just watch as it heads to the out field. The Mets would only score the 1 run in the inning.
Jon Niese was the starting pitcher for the Mets. The Rockies would score a run also in the 1st. inning. Dexter Fowler would score the first Rockies run, after hitting a single he advanced to second on a bad pitch and would score on a Carlos Gonzalez single. Tulo came up to bat and it was time to place your bets on how he would get out with a runner on and this one was a pop out to the Mets first baseman Murphy in foul territory. So that was 3 plays in this series he did not advance or score a runner. Which could have resulted in his 20th RBI of the year, That is if all runner scored that were on base during his at bats against the Mets.
The Rockies would take a lead in the 4th inning on a Rutledge solo home run. (2-1) Rox
The Mets would tie the game at 2 in the 6th inning with this interesting play. David Wright would hit the ball back to Jon Garland who tipped the ball and Josh Rutledge got the ball threw home to try to get Murphy at the plate and threw high.
Rosario than threw it to Tulo who was at second because Wright started for second than threw to Todd Helton at first after
Wright turned around and then tossed back to Tulo. So it was a 1,4,2,6,3,6 play.
Here is Wright arguing with second base umpire Mike Dimuro.
The Rockies and Mets kept the game tie at 3 both scoring a run in the 6th inning.
The Rockies than opened the game up in the 7th. inning. it started with Jordan Pacheco leading off pinch-hitting in the pitchers spot. He grounded out. Eric Young Jr. hit a single but was out on a Dexter Fowler hit to Reuben Tejada for the out at second.
With 2 outs Cargo hit a single Troy Tulowitzki walked and Rosario would hit a hit to center field scoring Dex and Cargo. Tulo would go to third. (5-3)Rox. Rosario stole second and Todd Helton would hit his 573 career double scoring Tulo and Rosario (7-3). Todd moved into 20th on the all time double’s list. Passing Ivan Rodríguez and 1 behind Charlie Gehringer the next 4 people on the list are all Hall Of Fame members including Gehringer, Wade Boggs, Cap Anson and Robin Yount. Back to the game. He and Rutledge would also score for a total of 6 Rockies runs in the inning and a 9-3 Lead.
The Rockies sent 11 batters to the plate in the inning. A really odd thing happened in the inning. Jordan Pacheco lead off the inning pinch-hitting in the pitchers spot. When the spot in the line up came back up Reid Brignac pinch hit for Pacheco the pinch hitter. Now most of us were wondering why they pinch hit the pinch hitter. One was that since they had such a lead to just get some at bats for Brignac who has been hitting well. Two for a right on left situation since the Mets changed a few pitchers in the inning and now had a righty on the mound. so we all where not to sure what the situation is so after the game we asked a player what was the reason for the pinch hit and it was because Pacheco was sent to the bull pen after his out and no one thought about the line up turning over and he could not get back to the dugout quick enough. So they pinch hit for the pinch hitter we are working to find out if this has been done before and when it may have been done before. Any help would be appreciated
Chris Volstad would enter the game for the Rockies in the 8th inning. Jon Garland went 7 with 4 strike outs allowing 2 runs on 6 hits. He now has a 3.32 ERA for the season. The Rockies only used Garland and Volstad to pitch in this game I can’t remember the last time they only used 2 pitchers in a game. This year they used 3 pitchers in two other games I think.
Chris Nelson made a great play diving to his left to get a ball hit by Collin Cowhill.
Than tossed it over to Helton on first.
It was a great play by him for the out and he is doing a really well at 3rd.
The Rockies added 2 additional runs in the 8th inning. Dexter Fowler led off the inning with his 7th home run of the season. Which puts him in 2nd in all of MLB behind Justin Upton who has 9 with the Braves. He is on the path to hit over 70 at this point all the best to him. He is really doing well and a great person.
Wilin and Volstad shake hands after the Rockies 6th home win of the season and there 11th of the season. They are 11-4 on the season and now leads the National League west by 2.5 games. I know it is early in the season but is a great feeling to have them in this spot.
Troy Tulowitzki high fives Dante.
After the game we headed over to Dex and friends at Jacksons. Which is on 102.3 ESPN Radio. Today it was more like Dex since he was by him self with the broadcasters. Usually there is a second player with him that changes from show to show.
On a side note at first pitch the temperature was 28 degrees which tie the record for coldest game ever played at Coors Field.
Well That is it for this one.
This weekend the Diamondbacks come to town and the return of Matt Reynolds and Will Nieves both for Rockies. See You at Coors!!!
Cincinnati Reds Vs Colorado Rockies
Cincinnati Reds first Place in the National League Central by 3 games the Rockies second worst team in the Major Leagues!
O.K. before I start about the day Just want to give a S/O to the Rock Nation Crew who on Aug. 4th will be holding an Equipment drive.
Here is the info.
O.K. as always on a Sunday I headed to Coors early. I met up with X, Rachel, Julie and the rest of the Sunday morning crew. The gates were a little earlier today because instead of autograph Sunday it was photo day. This is a fun day that you get to hang on the field and have some fun interacting with the players and coaches. So when the gates opened we headed to the field and decided to head out to left field. While we were waiting for the players we had some fun and took some photos.
Shortly after the players started heading out and we noticed Carlos Gonzalez and Wilin Rosario heading to the section to our right. So we went over to them.
Here is me with Wilin Rosario.
Carlos Gonzalez and I.
After Betancourt The Deuce was not far behind. Here is Gary X with Him.
Then I got to take a photo with him.
Which was kinda interesting because I have been one of his biggest critics over the last few years and have not always had the best experiences when meeting him.. He was actual not a Deuce today. He was pretty cool, took his time and sociable with the fans. Most asked how he was and when will he be returning to the line up. He is doing well and should be back in early September.
To the left is a photo of Bo McLaughlin The Rockies new Pitching Coach.
Carney Lansford and Rich Dauer. Hmm in this photo can you figure out who does not have a World Series ring!!
A and X with Big Jim Wright!
Josh Roenicke and Rex Brothers.
Brooklyn in Da house. Adam “No Sleep To Brooklyn” Ottavino, Adam grew up in Park Slope Brooklyn.
Matt Reynolds with the card that X made for him with a photo I took.
X and A with Jorge De La Rosa. I asked Jorge when I should be back from having Tommy John Surgery and he said soon it has been about 14 months or so since he had it he said he is feeling good and rehab is going well.
To the right Rockies first base coach Glenallen Hill.
Manager Jim Tracy.
I did get a bunch more but this post is long enough others were Jerry Weinstein, Andrew Brown, Carlos Torres, Mike Ekstrom and Josh Fields.
It was a fun day with the players. I think it is really cool that the Rockies do this and it is a lot of fun. I also want to thank Matt Belise and Drew Pomeranz for doing a running man!
Drew is the first player to actually do it twice he also did it at fan fest in January.
After photo day was over it was time to get down to the normal business of the day. The pitches came out and did their normal warm ups.
Here is Jorge De La Rosa throwing to trainer Keith Duggar.
Also got a few autos one was Jim Tracy on my photo I have been having everyone sign. Wilin Rosario on a card. Drew Pomeranz on a Tulsa pocket schedule I got on my road trip.
It was then time to play ball. The starter for the Rockies was Jonathan Sanchez. This was his Coors debut. He was recently acquired in a trade with the Royals for Jeremy Guthrie.
This is his first Coors field pitch to the Reds lead off batter Zack Cozart. Cozart would pop out to second for the first out of the game.
Sanchez would walk the second batter Drew Stubbs. Who would than steal second.
Brandon Phillips would single which scored Stubbs from second, also tried to steal second but was not as succesful as Stubbs. Sanchez would strike out Todd Frazier for the final out of the inning. (1-0) Reds
Dexter Fowler on his quest for his record all-time leader in triples for the Rockies lead off the inning by not accomplishing that record, but reached base by walking. Josh Rutledge batted second.
He would hit his second MLB home run and first one at Coors. He has been a great addition to this team in the past few weeks with and including this game he is batting .379 with 5 doubles, 2 triples and 2 home runs in 58 at bats. He also has 22 combined hits and 8 RBI’s. (2-1) Rockies
Michael Cuddyer would also reach base with some hard running and a rushed throw from Zack Cozart at short that…
… pulled Miguel Cairo off first.
The Reds started the 2nd off aggressively Chris Heisey hit a lead off triple he would score on a sac fly by Cairo to center and tied the game at 2.
I am going to try to make this one brief the Reds would than score a run in the 3rd. The Rockies would not produce in the third Cuddyer and Rutledge would both get hits but would not score. The starting pitcher for the Reds Matt Latos would sit the Rockies down in order in the 4th.
Jonathan Sanchez would get really roughed up in the 5th. Cozart lead off with a single Stubbs hit a 2 Run home run. (5-2) Reds 2 batters later Jay Bruce would hit a solo shot. ( 6-2) Reds. After that Sanchez was removed from the game by manager Jim Tracy.
Here he is leaving the mound.
Carlos Torres would come into pitch for the Rockies and would strike out the first 2 Reds he faced in the 5th to get out of the inning. he would pitch the complete 6th and 7th ining. Facing 9 Batters in his 2/3rd innings. Striking out 5 and only allowing 1 hit. The hit was a double by Ryan Hannigan.
Dex sent one for a ride in the 5th which looked like it may have gone out but fell short and was caught by Jay Bruce on the right field track.
Mike Ekstrom pitched the 8th for the Rockies he did not have a great outing but he did let up an additional run on 2 hits and a Rutledge error at short. (7-2) Reds
Matt Reynolds pitched the 9th for the Rockies Striking out 2 of the 4 batters he faced. He did let up one hit to Stubbs.
The Rockies would attempt a 2 out rally in the bottom of the 9th, After Andrew Brown would get a single when he pinch hit in the pitchers spot. Josh fields who was brought in a double switch in the 6th would hit a single. Dex then grounded out to end the game. The Reds won 7-2 and swept the Rockies this weekend. It looks like my days of seeing home team walk off wins have ended now that I am back home. It is just something we are getting use to at Coors. Well that is it for this one besides the Rockies loss it was a great day hanging at Coors today. Once again thanks to the players and coaches for having a photo day for the fans.
Here is a few others from our time on the field.
Mary O and Me.
Me waiting for my marker back that Jim Tracy was signing with.
Then these to girls had this sign that said show me how to Tulo. So read their definition!
O.K. so now my Tulo dig for the post yes I have to go there. I thought Tulo-ing would be when there is 1 out with 2 runners on and he pops out to the first base or third base line. Now I only say this because I have seen several time this year. Maybe after this injury things will turn around for him with him.
Well that’s it for this one I should be at Coors most of the week as they face the Cardinals and Giants in the next week.
I may also have a surprise post mid-week. Covering something I normally would not cover!
and remember I can be followed on twitter: @RoxAddict
Philadelphia Phillies Vs. Colorado Rockies
Got shut out during BP, No big deal. Then I headed over to the 1st base line. Got this shot of
Eric Young Jr. Throwing to Dexter Fowler.
Cole Hamels Pitched for the Phillies and Jhoulys Chacin started for the Rox.
Jhoulys Chacin throwing the first pitch to The Phillies Jimmy Rollins. Rollins and Shane Victorino Both grounded out. Chase Utley was walked and Ryan Howard Flew out to end the inning. The Rockies went down in order in the Second.
Cole Hamel pitching in the 1st inning.
Hunter Pence at bat in the 2nd inning. he lead off the inning with a fly ball to center.
Hunter Pence at bat in the 2nd inning. He lead off the inning with a fly ball to center. He was just traded from the Astros. Chacin also walked a batter in the 2nd Raul Ibanez. The Phillies would not score in the inning.
Chacin threw 29 pitches in the first 2 innings.
The Deuce Troy Tulowitzki would lead off the second with aground out. Ty Wiggington would hit a single and score on a Seth Smith HR. (2-0)
Seth Smith running to home after his 2nd inning HR.
Shane Victorio being called out after being tagged out by Chris Iannetta.
The Deuce swinging wildly to foul off the pitch in the 5th inning. He would later Strike out in the at bat for the third out of the inning. In the Inning Ellis struck out for the second out. Both Ellis and Tulowitzki came up with the bases loaded. This was a situation that all they needed was a base hit for 2 runs and were swinging for the fences. I know Tulo wants to be the hero but striking out is not going to produce. I am still not familiar with Ellis swing but I know when Tulo is swinging for the fence instead of getting a hit. He defiantly was not looking for the single which would score a run or 2 which can always be needed for this team the way they have been playing of late. These runs would be very significant in the later innings.
These 2 photos are of Hunter Pence scoring the Phillies first run in the 7th inning. (2-1) Rox
Bob Apodaca comes out to talk to Chacin in the 7th inning.
Chris Iannetta crosses the plate after his 7th inning lead off HR.
Chacin remained in the game and grounded out for the 1st out. Young pop out to the catcher. Fowler would walk than be caught stealing at second with Ellis at the plate for the 3rd out of the inning.
Ty Wiggington giving Chacin some props as he left the game in the 8th. Chacin once again pitched well striking out to letting up 5 hits and 1 run. walking 2. He threw 101 pitches.
Matt Reynolds would come in to pitch to Utley and Howard. Rafael Betancourt would finish the inning.
Rafael Betancourt striking out Pence to end the 8th.
Huston Street warming up before the 9th inning.
The Rockies went into the 9th with a 3-1 lead and looked like they had the game. Huston Street would strike out Ibanez and Placido Polanco would fly out to Dex in center. street would need one strike to also K Carlos Ruiz. Ruiz would hit a double and then John Mayberry would hit a 2 run HR to tie the game in the 9th. Rollins would strike out to end the inning, Remeber those significant runs back in the 5th. That would have been the game either 4-3 or 5-3 for a Rockies win to start of the series against the Phillies. But that was not the case. The game is tied in the 9th. Smith would lead off the 9th with a single. The next 2 batters would go down in order in the 9th.
John Mayberry hitting the tieing HR in the 9th inning.
So the game headed to extra innings. Rex Brothers pitched in the 10th. Shane Victorino would lead off with a solo shot to make the score 4-3 Phillies. That’s all that was need for the Phillies the Rox came up in the 10th and went down in order to end the game. The game looked promising but end on a series of bad pitches and luck for the Rockies. So how important were those runs that did not happen in the 5th, I would say very.
That’s it for this one.
I will be at the next 2 in the series. See Ya at Coors.

Cubs Vs. Rockies Game 3
Ubaldo Bobble Head Day!!!!!
Oddly enough I do take a new one of these for each game.
This is a view from the concource for the line for a Ubaldo Jimenez autograph. I got both my bobbleheads signed by Ubaldo.
Starting Pitcher for the Rockies Alan Johnson. The odd thing is usually the crowd will cheer and applaud when the starter emerges from the dugout. Not today he just took the long walk out with out acknowledgment. I think I may of been the only person who knew who he was. Alan was in the Springs last year and I have seen him pitch before. I also believe I have his autograph somewhere. The Coors crowd will know who he is soon enough.
Alan Johnson long throwing with Jose Morales in the outfield. This was Alans first major league start.
Alan Johnson warming up in the bullpen.
Rockies starters stretching on the first baseline before the game.
Alan Johnson and Jose Morales heading from the bullpen.
Johnson Throwing his first big league pitch to the Cubs Starlin Castro for a strike. Nice way to start a MLB career. Castro would end up hiting a single and scoring the first run of the game off of a Darwin Barney single. The Rox would double up the Cubs on a hit by Byrd to The Deuce for a double play getting Barney at 2nd and Byrd at 1st. Ramirez would the ground out to end the inning.
The Rockies would give Johnson some run support in the bottom half of the 1st. After Fowlers lead of strikout. Cubs starter Ryan Dempster would then walk Jonny Herrera who scored on a Carlos Gonzalez double. Tying the game at 1-1 The deuce would then flyout to center Helton singled and Seth Smith hit a homerun for the Rockies to take a 4-1 lead. So the offence realy helped him with run support.
In the 2nd inning Johnson would walk the lead of batter for the inning Carlos Pena. Then he would get his first strikeout with the next batter Alfonso Soriano. The Cubs would score one hin the 2nd making it a 4-2 Rockies lead. The Cubs would go on to score 2 in the 3rd. and one in the 4th. tying the game at 5-5. Johnson would pitch 4 innings with 3 strike outs, 3 walks (which all 3 would result in runs), throwing 93 pitches. Letting up 5 runs. Over all he did pitch well for a first start.
Cubs Shortstop catches The Deuce pop up in the 3rd inning.
The Deuce’s next homerun will be his 100th of his carrer as of the time I am writing this he has yet hit it.
“D”, Lil Ranter Hunter, Allanah X and Gary X sitting in the front row of the Rockpile above the word solar.
During the 6th inning I headed over to the section directly behind homeplate to take a few photos.
The Rockies Then Rallied in the 8th 2 score 4 more runs sending 10 batters to the plate in the inning Smith singled Lopez doubled, Fowler and Herrera also doubled. All 3 outs were on strike outs Jose Morales, Ty wiggington and Spilli all K’d.
Rockies Manager takes the ball from Matt Reynolds in the top of the 8th. Rafael Betancourt would come into the game to pitch the rest of the inning.
Jim Tracy handing over the ball to Betancourt.
Rafael Betancourt getting ready to pitch. This photo was taken by my Mom who attended the game with me. This photo is to show where I get my mad photo skillz!! Ok maybe not but it was pretty good.
The scoreboard at Coors while the Rox were ralling in the 8th.
Rockies outfielders celabrating the Rockies 9-5 victory over the Cubs. The Rockies are 12-3 on the season.
The Post game celabration at the Root Sports Desk. I realy like this photo it has a bunch of The Rantics in it Judy is holding the Root, Root, Root for the Rockies sign my Mom is standing to the left of the sign and “D” and Hunter are standing in the top center to the right of the BIG L sign!!!!! Great day at the ballpark. A Rockies win and a Ubaldo Bobblehead.
As I am writing this the Rockies have lost their second game in a row to the Giants. I did not attend either game. They are now 12-5 but still 2 games a head of the Giants in the West.Ian Stewart has been optioned to the Springs and Ubaldo made his first start since Opening Day. Unfortunatly it was also his first loss. An if you didn’t know who Alan Johnson is you do now. If you still don’t learn it!! I will be at Coors for tomorrows day game against the Giants. Thats all I got see you at Coors!!!!!
Dodgers Vs. Rockies

Now I Belive their was a Baseball Game!!!!!
Like always the hosers were there!!!!!
Behind the Rockies Dugout during the National Anthem
Jason Hammel and Chris Iannetta heading to the field
Rockies taking the field for the last game of this homestand
Jason Hammel throwing first pitch to the Dodgers Rafael Furcal. Furcal would get out, then Casey Blake hit a single and Andre Either would hit into a 3,6,3 double play a unconventional DP but executed perfectly by Helton and the Deuce.
The Rockies had a very aggresive first inning dispite Fowlers groundout to Dodgers first baseman James Loney.
Seth Smith was batting second this game
in this photo he takes a pitch for a ball, But a few pitches later he rips one to the outfield for a double.
Smith rounding first and heading for second. Cargo hit a Double of his own scoreing Smith for the first run of the game. After The Deuce popped out to short, Helton walked and Lopez hit in Cargo from second this brought the Rox up 2-0. Lopez has been a great addition to the team so far batting .364 at this point with a homerun. We will miss Barmes but I think this may pan out for the best.
Cargo taking a pitch for a strike
Seth Smith scoring the Rox first run after the Cargo Double.
Jose Lopez during his at bat in the 1st inning.
The Dodgers Matt Kemp lead off the second inning with that very Familiar 6,3 groundout. Followed by a James Loney solo Homerun that was hit one section to the left from where I was standing. After Uribe and Paul both GO I headed up to my seat in 307.
The Rox second started with a Chris Iannetta walk followed by a Jason Hammel Sac Bunt.
The inning ended by a Smith and Fowler each striking out.
The Dodgers would score 3 runs in starting off with a Rod Barajas HR which was caught by Dan. Nice Catch! Hey Rod Barajas remember that time you were a Met!!! Then got 2 more on a few walks and hits. Hammel had his notorious bad inning but got out of it a lot better then in the past the Dodgers were up 4-2 and then the Rox came up for the bottom half of the 3rd.
With Cargo leading off with a walk and a Tulo’s first hit that was not a HR Todd Helton stepped to the plate he hit a 3 run HR. that bounce off the top of the auxilary scoreboard in rightfield. Scoring 3 runs and the Rox taking the lead back from the Dodgers 5-4 Rockies.
Fans reacting to the Helton Homer as it bounces past them. You can see the ball over the first row third seat in.
After Hammel faced 4 batters in the forth the Rox came up and scored 2 more in the bottom of the 4th. On the Deuces third homer of the season and third consecutive game with a HR. 7-4 Rox.
The rest of the game was somewhat uneventful with only the Dodgers scoring 1 in the 8th. Hammel pitched 5 letting up 6hits, 4 runs, 2 homers, walking 3 and striking out 2.
Morales came in for the 6th and 7th. Facing 7 batters striking out 2 in the 2 innings. Lindstrom pitched the 8th letting up a DB to Kemp who later came around to score. 7-5 Rox which would end up being the final score.
Street closed the game in the ninth, letting up 2 basehits to Barajas and Carrol. He then retired Furcal with a flyout to left and ended the game with 2 incredible strike outs. First to Dodgers pinch hitter Gimenez and then Either for the final out of the game.
Huston Street strikes outs Andre Either for the final out of the game.
Rockies win 7-5 and are now 4-1 on the season. After this game they headed to Pittsburgh. The first game they won, The Deuce hit another HR in that game. Making it 5-1 on the season then friday night the played a 14 inning marathon which they lost. 5-2 on the season and one of the best starts for the Rox in their history. As I am writing this the Rox are 6-2 on the season after yesterdays win against the Pirates.
On Wenesday during Batting Practice I finally got my first ball of the year at Coors a bouncer of the track hit by the Rockies. Then went on to catch to clean on the fly off the Dodgers. making it three balls for the year. This was only the second time I got 3 and also only the second time I got balls from both the Rockies and the visiting team.
My take on the day the top 2 were from the Dogers the bottom was the first of the year from the Rox.
Thanks for taking a look. Go Rockies. I am the Rox Addict and I will see you at Coors on Friday when the Rockies take on the Chicago Cubs.
Now for the creative shot of the game to show off my made photo skillzs!!!!
and for the first time not in BNW “Roberts Glove”
Rox: Jhoulys Chacin
Dodgers: Clayton Kershaw
After a shutout BP where I still have not caught a ball making me 0-3 games this season which is a slight slumb when snagin’. We then headed over to the 1st base line to see if we could get a auto or 2. I only got a Ryan Spilbourghs on a Ticket stub from a game last year that he Cargo and Seth Smith hit Back to Back to Back Homers against the Diamondbacks on May 27th.
The L.A. Dodgers and Rockies this is the new LCD board under the Mountain Ranch Club.
Jhoulys Chacin heading to the Bullpen for his start.
The Deuce stretching before the game
The Rockies during the National Anthem
Spilli signing autographs before the game.
Today I sat in section 153 with Gary and Lil’ X
Here’s the Rockies taking the field against the Dodgers.
Jhoulys throwing the first pitch to the Dodgers Rafael Furcal. furcal would go 0-4 this game grounding out at each at bat. Chacin pitched a really good game letting up 5 hits, striking out 3 holding the Dodgers to no runs in 7 innings. 2 of the strike outs were in the4th against Uribe and Barajas.
Now normaly I would not post so many photos of one play but this is a double play in the second inning. The ball was hit by Uribe to Wiggington at third Lopez gets Loney out at second throws to Helton to get Uribe incredible play.
Hey Rod Barajas, Remember that time you were a Met!!
Rod Barajas as a catcher for the Mets Last April
In the 4th someone finally got a hit ! After going 0-9 He hit a big one for a Homerun.
The Deuce Troy Tulowitzki rounding the bases after his 4th inning homerun. Which raised his batting avg. to .100 Whoooo Hoooo.
The 4th inning Homerun by the Deuce was the first run of the game. The Rox also scored a run in the 5th when Chris Iannetta also hit a solo Homerun. Then they went on to score in the 6th. With Dex hitting a lead off 2b, he later scored on a Lopez single. making the score 3-0 Rockies. the Rockies after this game are now 2-1 for the 2011 season Jhoulys got the win and Street jith the save.
Huston Street pitching to the last batter of the game in the 9th inning. Much better pitching performance from Street this game 3up 3 down and he did it in under 15 pitches. Way to go Huston !
Like usually we headed over to the Root Sports post game desk to celabrate the victory.
Tom Helmer, The Cowboy Tracy Ringolsby and George Frazier at the post game desk.
Once again great night hangin with the Rantics @ Coors.
See you at Coors.
Thanks to everyone who checked out the 5 additions of this post that were posted incomplete with out my knowing.
Game 2 4-2-2011 Diamondbacks Vs. Rockies
Starters: De La Rosa for the Rox
Hudson for the D’back
This day at Coors started with one of the most uneventful batting practice I have ever seen. not much was hit to the pavillions. Most of the snagged BP balls were from player toss ups. Instead of heading to the first baseline for autos I hung with the Ranter and Lil’ Ranters.
I did manage to head down for a minute or so before the National Anthem.
So then headed up to my seats for the first pitch it was a strike to Bloomquist. Nice way to start the game.
Jorge De La Rosa Throwing the first pitch to D’backs Mike Bloomquist. (yes same view from Opening Day same seat). Bloomquist ended up hitting a single and got stranded at second after a Johnson strike out and two flyouts by Upton and Young. De La Rosa pitched an excellent inning and game.
Here are the games starting line ups. You can see Ian Stewart was back in the line up for the Rox.
Seth Smith playing rightfield in the first inning. This is for the lady who was sitting behind me in Sec. 307. Told you I would post one for ya.
Dex making the catch for the 3rd out of the 1st inning. hit by the D’backs Chris Young.
After Hudson walks Fowler, Hmmm deja vu just like on Opening Day Dex lead off walk. Seth Smith is at the plate against Hudson. Smith ends up flying out to left, Cargo hits a single and the Deuce hit into a 6,4,3 double play.
The Coors Field sunset always a plus for sitting in the upper deck.
Their was no scoring til the 3rd when the Rockies Chris Iannetta lead off with a single followed by a Jorge strikeout and scored on a Fowler double. Cargo hit another single and guess who hit into a fielders choice for the 3rd out in the inning. Well refer back to the roster for the answer.
The Rockies scored 2 runs in the 4th with Iannetta hitting a doube scoring Lopez who was at second after he singled and advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch. Then Jorge De La Rosa contributes with a single scoring Iannetta from second and the Rox go up 3-0. That was Jorges 14th RBI in his carreer and he now has a better batting average then the Deuce !!!!
IMG_3056.JPG<<<<the image ### for the photo that should be here. imagine a photo of Jorge pitching in the 5th taken from centerfield!!!!!!!!
Jorge ended up pitching 5 1/3 innings and was removed and replaced with Matt Belise. Jorge had a blister on a finger on his pitching hand and is listed as day to day. Jorge pitched 87 pitches with 3 strike outs and let up no runs. It was a very good outing for him, it is good to see he had his stuff last night hope he heals quick and is ready for his next start.
After the 4th Inning I headed to the Rockpile and hung out with Gary X and Allanah X.
Belise pitched til the end of the seventh letting up only 1 hit to his first batter in the 5th and struck out 1. Bettancourt came in the 8th. walking the lead off batter Gerrado Parra and then getting the next 3 batters out.
A photo of Betancourt Pitching would of looked great here!!!!!!! I have to Thanx MLBLOGS for sucking!!!!!!!!!
in the Rox 8th this guy snagged a Seth Smith Ground rule Double this is where i would put the Photo of who this guy is sorry no props for you today Robert !!!
Huston Street came in, in the 9th. where he proved my theorie of if he throws 15 pitches he will throw 30. Just seems like that to me either he’s lights out or throwing to many pitches. he let up 3 hits, 1 run and had a game ending strike out to Gerrado Parra. The Rox went on winning the game 3-1
Photo of the final scoreboard and the celabration after the game at the Root Sports Post game desk!!!!!!ohhh they were great. you must feel like you are being left out thanks to MLBLOGS Sucking ohhh did I repeat myself. Sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!
Check back I will add the photos to this game at a later date. Til then see at Coors on Tuesday. When the Dodgers are in town to play The Rox.
Rox (1-1) Winning Pitcher Jorge De La Rosa Street managed a save. It was also Jorge’s 50th win of his career.
Opening Day 2011
It was an early start for a 2:10 game left my house at 9:15 to be at breakfast with the Rantics at 10:00. Gates opened at 12:00 so after breakfast we checked out some of the festivities happening on Blake Street. Not to eventful a bunch of radio stations and corporations info farming for free swag. So we headed down to the gates and hung out for about 45 min.
Heading to Coors after breakfast @ the 20th Street Cafe. If I saw this bunch walking down the street I would so cross to the otherside!!!!!Left to right Pete, Robert, “D” The Rockpile Ranter, Geoff, And Doug
On our way we saw this guy rockin the Root Sports Logos on his petty cab. Root Sports made their name known all over Lodo from banners in bars and this guy with handle bars! If you were a Rockies Fan living under a rock yesterday Rocky Mountain FSN is Now Root Sports. Good Luck to our friends on Root Sport you guys do a great job.
The Opening day village located @ the opposite of 20th and Blake from Coors Field.
People Gathering outside the B gate!
So then I headed over to the Rockpile gate which if you read the Rox Addict during the winter I have a photo of me standing in front of to be the first online. So the photographic evidence wasn’t enough to be let to cut the 5 people in front of me so I ended up being 6th. Still not to bad. so after waiting for about 20 min or so the magic works came over the radio that it is 12 o’clock and the gates are now opened followed by the gate usher saying Rockpile gate is open and clear. Here it was after a long-awaited winter Opening day at Coors Field as we entered and received our Rockies Magnetic 2011 Schedule. I ran up the stairs to the main concourse to Head to my spot in the Pavillion for Batting Practice. The Rockies were on the field hitting and the pavilions filled quickly. Next thing I knew people found the need to stand about a foot away from me. Then I started shifting around for the hitters. I came close to a bp ball a few times but by the end I was shut out.
The Coors Field grounds Crew getting field ready for the game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
look “D” hosers.
Below: putting Down the foul lines on the first base side.
The Opening Day logo on the field with a member of the Coors Field grounds crew who I think was hired just to walk around the logo in circle so you can’t get a good photo of it.I also believe this position is responsible for the $1.00 increase of the ticket window ticket prices.
The new LED board located below the Mountain Ranch club.
Players stretching and warming up for the game. Left to right Todd Helton, Jose Lopez w/conditioning coach and Seth Smith walking off frame.
Honor Guards from all the Military were included into the Opening ceremonies this is the Navy. Also the Denver Sheriffs Dept. were included.
Announcing the starting line ups. The D’back Manager Kirk gibson with Willie Bloomquist as they announce the starting line up.
Dexter Fowler Hi Five Vinny Castilla . Check out Dex rockin the DJ Jazzy Jeff Dew!!!!” His at bat song should be “Parents Just Don’t Understand”
The Rockies Starting Line up during the national anthem. R to L. Jim tracy, Dexter Fowler, Seth Smith, Cargo, The Deuce troy Tulowitzki, Todd Helton, Ty Wiggington,Jose Lopez and then the bullpen pitches. With Ubaldo warming up in the bullpen.
The very large flag covers most of the outfield. It is something like 350 ft by 250 ft or something like that.
The F16 from the 120th Fighter Squadron
The bullpen staff heading to the Bullpen the Rookie always carries a pink backpack with his equipment in it for the last 2 seasons Matt Daley got to carry it now it is Matt Reynolds turn. at the end of the season all the Minor League call ups get one.
Before the game The Deuce and Cargo both got their Hardware from last season both received their Gold Gloves and Silver Slugger Awards. these 2 can be two of the best players to ever touch a baseball field. Only time could tell that, But they both had great years last year and signed huge multi-year contracts in the off-season. They would have been higher if it wasn’t for the grounds crew member who walks around the logo.
Ubaldo, Chris Iannetta, Bob Apodaca and the roving catching coach head to the field to start the game.
After all the pomp and circumstance it was time to head to my seats and the Rockies took the field behind their ace pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez.
Ubaldo throws first pitch to the D’Backs Willie Bloomquist who grounded out to the Deuce for the first out of the game. With a quick first that Ubaldo saw 4 batters and only threw 7 pitches the game and the season got off to a great start. Then the Rox headed up to bat Fowler lead off witha walk the advanced to 2nd on a WP to Seth Smith. Smith went on to hit a double to score Dex from 2nd. To Score the first run of the season for the Rockies. After a Cargo Ground out to the D’backs 2nd baseman a Tulo walk a Helton sac fly to left scored Smith for the 2nd run. Ty Wiggington hit to short and Tulo was out at 2nd to end the Inning.
Dex dive back to first during Smiths at bat. Dex ended up advancing on a Ian Kennedy wild pitch.
Dex crosses home plate after Smiths 2b
Cargo Grounding out in th first inning.
The Diamondbacks responded in the 2nd with a run. The Rox responded with 1 in the third then the game was uneventful for the next few innings. til the 5th when Helton was called out on a fan interference call on the 3rd baseline. That D’backs outfielder Gerado Parra had no shot on and the fan did try to catch the ball but was a BS call and jim Tracy came out to argue the call. In the Top of the fifth the Diamondsbacks scored 3 on aJustin Upton 3 run HR scoring Kennedy who was walked and Bloomquist who hit a single.the score at that point was 4 to 3 d’backs. Then they went on to score 2 in the 6th.
The Deuce at the plate in the 8th inning the deuce ended up hitting for the gooose. He went 0 for 5 with a walk in the 1st and struck out in the 8th and the 11th as he was swinging for the fences instead of getting on base nobody said he was a clutch hitter just a good hitter mostly at the wrong time, but it is all about the #####’s and he will still hit over .300 with 110+RBI’s and 30 or so Homers.
Matt Lindstrom pitching in the 11th inning
So the game went 11 inning the D’Backs scored off a Matt Lindstrom wild pitch which scored Gerrado Parra from third.
It was a fun day at Coors even with the Rox losing 7-6 to the D’backs and the 2 really bad calls by the Ump’s including the Helton out in the 5th and the Smith catch in Left that was called no catch in the 8th or 9th inning. All and all had a great day hanging out with fellow Rantics and the return of baseball to Colorado for the start of the 2011 season. It can only get better from here. and looking forward to the rest of the season. I am the Rox Addict and now that the season is underway I will see you at the ballpark.
I will be at tonight’s game. root Sports will be giving away a Carlos Gonzalez t-Shirt
Here is the awaited BNW to show off my mad photo skillz!!!!!! Navy guy macking on the merch chick!!!Yes that is the guy from the Honor Guard that s why I chose the Navy Photo instead of the others.
